About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit India!

My references call me 'jason' because I used to go by that name. My real name is Siraj. I am proud of my Indian heritage.

ABOUT ME

Hello citizens of the CS community! Greetings from Silicon Valley! My name's Siraj. I'm a bitcoin enthusiast, revolutionary, transhumanist, musician, writer, and programmer. I'm 23 years old and have never once been to India, or any part of south/southeast asia. On Jan 1, I'm taking my girlfriend Liz with me, and we're going to take a 6 month journey throughout India, and eventually other parts of Southeast Asia. We have a one-way ticket booked for Amritsar, and we'll figure the rest out from there. We are leaving the cozy confines of our home here in San Francisco to see what India is really like, not just my parent's version of it.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm very ambitious. I have big dreams for my life and for the world and won't settle for less. I want to help solve the major problems of the world so that we can come closer to understanding the nature of reality. I'm quite progressive and believe in equality and freedom more than anything else. Political activism is our duty as a people to maintain justice in our society. I'm inspired by Elon Musk, Gandhi, and George Carlin.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To me couchsurfing is more than just getting to know someone else. It's a cultural exchange of two different lives. Not only do I hope to learn about someone else's way of life, but I want to share with them my perspective of their home and my way life so we can revel in the knowledge of each other's cultures. The fact that a random stranger allows me into their house brings me such great happiness. It's the "Mi Casa Es Su Casa" mentality that I bring to the table. If someone surfs at my place, or I surf at theirs, they are my lifelong friends and always welcome to surf in my apartment in San Francisco. Friendships are an amazing thing, and something I hope to share with this community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed before and it's an amazing experience. I'm still friends with my host and we learned quite a bit from each other. I was a little shy at first, but he was really nice so we ended up having awesome conversations and exploring the city. I absolutely loved it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've traveled to every first world capital in the world.
I've written countless songs.
I've saved a life.
I've been in the heart of New York City, in the village, in the middle of a parade, on Halloween, in the rain. But that's a long story, haha.
Ran away from Yakuza in Japan when I was 18

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very well versed in politics. I understand the political views of the left and right to the green and red. Alot of my friends come to me and ask why anyone could have a certain opinion of a topic, and I usually give an explanation.

I love music theory. I love teaching people ways of interpreting a song and ways of writing a song.

American culture and Indian culture are really misunderstood by alot of the world, and I would be overjoyed to teach anyone about it because I'm someone who holds heritage with both America and India.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing my experience of growing up as Indian in the USA
I can teach them how to program
I can perform my songs or do improv.
