About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To bike alone from Vancouver, BC to Los Angeles, CA.

ABOUT ME

I like walking: through cities, along rivers, in forests, up mountains. If I can get there on foot, I'll probably explore it. I think it's the best way to really get to know a place. Get lost, find yourself again -- a pretty good metaphor for my life philosophy as well.

I like to read and I like to write and I like to let the things I read influence the things I write. My favorite books are the tragic ones, the ones truest to life: Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Milan Kundera, Leo Tolstoy, etc. Timeless stories about timeless ideas.

I recently spent a year working as an au pair in rural Germany. It was a life-changing experience, the most challenging year of my life, and somewhere I'll constantly wander to in my head for as long as my mind has the memories to go back to. I became a couch surfer in Europe and hope to continue hosting and being hosted. I'm now back in the States, working as a barista/community organizer. I keep my eyes always on the horizon of the next adventure, and relish in the exhilaration I feel when beginning something new. Though I am a perpetual wanderer, my heart will always be in Missoula, Montana, USA. I am constantly leaving so that I may constantly feel the joy of returning.

PHILOSOPHY

Do good to everyone. We all deserve at least some kindness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe that any good actions are returned to those who make them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed all over Europe and met extremely gracious hosts and friends from each experience.

Interests

I like good coffee, good beer, and good bread. I like intimate forests, wide beaches, and soaring mountains. I like the sound of my boots on the trail, the feel of handlebars in my grip, and the smell of summer.

Music, Movies, and Books

There is a time and place for every kind of music, and that is why I enjoy almost every type of music. Some favorite artists are: Bon Iver, The Lumineers, Snow Patrol, Beyonce, Lord Huron, Local Natives, Phoenix, The Head and the Heart, and Fleet Foxes.

I read like I eat: daily, with passion, and accompanied by a strong beverage (coffee, wine, whatever).

My favorite movie is, and always will be, Jurassic Park.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew a kite in the middle of the Bob Marshall Wilderness in northern Montana, one of the largest Wilderness areas in the Lower 48 of the US.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give music and book suggestions. I can help you take better photographs. I can write you a short story. I can teach you a lot of German, and a little Hebrew.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom
