ABOUT ME
Studied abroad last year in Brazil, aprendi o português, and now I just want to travel.
I'm in that awkward early 20s phase, where I have a lot of things I want to do in life, but not a lot of money, or a clear idea of how to get there.
I've spent most of 2012 back in my hometown, getting my bearings, starting a new job, all that jazz. It's been good, and I've learned a lot staying put that surprised me.
I'm a college grad, violinist, whistler, singer, terrible dancer, Californian, and I absolutely love learning from people who happen on my path.
PHILOSOPHY
When travelling, maps are unnecessary, but snacks never hurt.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have flirted with CS for years- I've been to a few meetups, and met people who have travelled extensively on it. Unfortunately I've not yet been in the situation to host, but once I get there, I surely wil. Right now, I'm looking to surf, meet new people, and perhaps share something of myself!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't yet had the chance to couchsurf, but I aim to make it happen, soon; I have, however, met beautiful people in some travelling I've done, hostel and trains and the like in Latin America- and I love how a single person can completely shape your trip, in such a great way.
Interests
Things I love:
- Speaking other languages/ platicando con la gente/ conversando com toda pessoa
- Cooking (vegan especially, though I am no longer one myself) and baking and drink-makin'
- Talking about linguistics or international politics and development or marxist theories or political economy (but I know how to shut up)
-Music- I play violin and will jam with you in classical, improv, gypsy jazz, bossa nova, folk or any style, really. Oh, and whistling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Well, I had this job in Ecuador... and my first visit to the small town of Maca Milipunko involved getting on a bus at 3am, hopping off it a few hours later at an unmarked curve in the road and hoping I was walking in the right direction. It was cold, I was exhausted, and all the man with a bushel of hay on his back told me was that it was a camino muyyyyyyyyyyy largo. But I started to hike, and the sun rose, and there I was, to the most beautiful sunrise over the volcanos of Cotopaxi and Iliniza, 12500 feet high. Calm, serene, perfect.
-Visiting the colonial mining town of Ouro Preto in Brazil, seeing its beautiful historical churches and countryside and ... ending up at a república (frat house) mud party in the middle of the day ?
-Teaching fourth graders how to play Katy Perry on the violin; earning their eternal love.
