About Me

ABOUT ME

Hey Y'all! I'm Laura. Born and raised in California, but just spent the past 7 years in Texas (see before y'all).

I'm currently in Sydney and have been in Australia this past year on a working holiday visa. I've got another year left in Oz and potentially wanting to stay longer, but we'll see!

I love sunshine and the outdoors, podcasts, reading and good chats!

PHILOSOPHY

"When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion."-Abraham Lincoln

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly hosted people when I was in Dallas, but ready to start surfing and meetup with locals in Sydney.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After my semester abroad in France finished, I travelled around Europe and met up with a few couchsurfers here and there. I didn't sleep on anyone's couches because I was new to the idea and a little hesitant, but I met up with other CSers for day and night outings.

When I moved to Dallas, I began hosting people. I have only had positive experiences so far!

Interests

When I'm not working, I'm a pretty active person and enjoy going to the gym, practicing yoga (trying to at least), or strolling around town. I like finding new places to eat, checking out the local farmers markets, hitting up thrift shops, and nights on the town! But I can also enjoy spending the night in with friends, cooking and drinking wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

Kill Bill, Hector and the Search for Happiness, Bridget Jones Diary, and pretty much most comedies!

I definitely go through phases with music, but I'm pretty much open to anything. Some favorites are Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse, Phoenix, Rise Against, Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, and Jon Bellion!

The Alchemist, The MaddAddam Trilogy, Hunger Games, 1984, Animal Farm.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done was quit my job and start traveling. I had been working in Dallas for 3 years and was constantly yearning to be somewhere new. I had a lot of back and forth between whether I would make the jump, but I'm so glad I did.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy meeting people. All kinds of people young/old, foreign/familiar, gay/straight, sociable/shy. I always find that I learn the most at unexpected times from unexpected people. Huge fan of Humans of New York.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm going to toot my own horn here, but I think I'm just a positive person to be around! I love helping people and if I can share anything to help someone, I'm glad to share :)
