I was couchsurfing before the internet came along. My grandfather lived with us as I was growing up; and, he had a continuing subscription to National Geographic and issues going back to the 1st issue. I think seeing all of the places and peoples of the world during my formative years planted the seeds of wanting to live abroad quite early.

I planned to stay abroad for a year, then two, then three; and then I settled and made a home here in Taiwan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The opportunity to meet new friends is one of the greatest life has to offer. Travelers thinking is expansive usually beyond the boxed thinking of one's home nation. Meeting those that travel combines two of the best opportunities in life, make new friends and to grow beyond one's learning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A wild dolphin spontaneously initiated a game of catch with me. On another occasion, I enrolled in a wilderness survival course and survived.
