Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard about CS from a junior back in university. The idea sounded too good to be true. I was almost skeptical, but decided to give it a try anyway. It has changed my life since.

Traveling used to mean getting out to a foreign land, trawling through new streets and sights, but mostly insulated in your own bubble with little or no contact with the locals, and then taking some nice pictures and magnets for your friends and family back home.

While im still guilty of the above sometimes, my perception of travel has definitely changed. It is not merely 'been there-done that' kind of concept, but an experience and a taste of life outside your comfort zone, which can get abit unsettling at times, but in a good sorta way.

So thank you CS, I've gained so much perspective since!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When i look back at these experiences i've had, i feel deeply thankful for these amazing people who were crazy enough to allow a complete stranger(like myself) into their homes. What if i turned out to be complete psycho, or a thief?

In any case, im glad that faith isn't dead yet and there are still trusting people around, as well as responsible travelers who continue to ensure that the system still works.
