About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be happy

ABOUT ME

I forget the names of places/foods/things easily. I'm a bit spacey but I can help by asking other people for you and head you in the right direction.
I am social and can take you to some events, but generally I'm not very good with touristic attractions.

I am positive, genuine, trusting, super relaxed, and diplomatic. I am opinionated, especially when it comes to humanitarian and international issues, but I'm never pushy. Life is about letting people make their own choices as long as it doesn't infringe negatively on others.

I don't really know what to say, I usually feel very odd filling out information on things like these. However, people that know me say that I am smart, honest, sweet, and kinda funny, fun, outgoing, mature, respectful and easy to talk to. I like to enjoy life and I'm generally accepting of ppl as they are.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess I'm still struggling with society's expectations on how I'm really supposed to live my life. I want to learn about everything and cut myself slack for not fitting the roles that I think I should be filling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't really go to any Couch Surfing events but I've surfed and hosted quite a bit. I think the way I participate in my own way is to be trusting of people. I think we all create spaces between us and other people and i don't think this is our fault. I think what CS culture tries to do is bring out the kindness and positivity we have within ourselves out. I know it maybe sounds a bit cheesy but it's true. CS feels to me like a movement that tries to reduce this space, disarm our mistrust, fears and regain our sense of trust with each other.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experiences so far has been amazing! I don't know if I just got really lucky or if the couchsurfing community tend to be like-minded people; either way it has been awesome and I have made real friends out of it.
I had one really bad experience with a guy messaging me to hang out while i was travelling in Turkey, then being manipulative and too sexually aggressive. He freaked out when I left him a bad message and recruited others I've never met to do that same. It's really unfortunate and distressing but I felt an obligation to warn others regardless of the negative repercussions.
I know that this isn't common and it's been my only isolated experience. I still really LOVE couch surfing and am able to identify people that are part of this community.
I am starting to understand that couchsurfing isn't just about having a place to stay, having a temporary friend or even meeting people. I think it's meant as a way for us to try to reconnect as a society.

Interests

I LOVE animals! Probably why I don't eat them. I love anything to do with music and going to live shows. I enjoy being creative and the arts. Travelling and meeting interesting ppl is up there too.
Graffiti and painting.
Activism and volunteering within my community for social justice and gender awareness issues.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was at work and washing my hands in the bathroom, I heard one of my 7 year old students singing to herself while she was peeing. It was the cutest thing I've ever experienced.
