About Me
A morning in February 2015, I left for the first time Europe for a new and exciting adventure: doing an internship in a travel agency while experiencing the "Pura Vida" life in Costa Rica.
Many "mangos", "gallo pintos" later I realized that I wanted to quit my job and travel to South America.
I will say "hasta luego" to my costarican flatmates in February 2016. I do not have a detailed itinerary but would like to discover following countries: Panama - Colombia - Ecuador - Peru - Bolivia - Paraguay - Brasil (maybe more).
Two main motivations of this travel are:
- Meeting people, exploring their universe, sharing ideas with them
- Volunteering, helping in daily farming work, and learning more about permaculture, nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I do not want a travel like "going from a hostel to another hostel". I travel solo, hostels are cool, but very boring when all guys are stuck at their smartphone, rather than sharing some talks about their travel experiences, life or whatever.
Then, I spent some nights sleeping in the street in Split, Croatia. Even if that option is cheap and adventurous, this is too unsafe for me and maybe not the best way to meet people.
I had my first Couchsurfing experience in Hungary. Zoli, a kind guy offered me a couch and taught me a lot about Budapest. I highly appreciated time spending with someone sharing values such as simplicity, solidarity, curiosity and even some bad side such as being messy (like I'm...).
My way of travelling is slightly changing to something that fits with my personality that's why I'm on Couchsurfing.
Interests
Why this guy is telling me "Pura Vida" instead of "Buenos dias"?
Why all my Costarican friends are still living with their parents at 25 years old?
Why my Costarican friends never say "NO"?
These are the kind of nonstop questions that I have in mind while living/traveling in a foreign country. Even if this is impossible, I always try to understand people.
So i love spending time in pub/local snack/restaurant/soda while meeting locals/strangers/artists. Walking in the street. Going to local markets!
Going to museum, assisting local celebrations, reading and watching documentary (mostly about history/philosophy).
Music, Movies, and Books
I love traditional music. I spent a week in a family in Turkey. The mother spent days cooking while listening "Turku". Listening this folk music while smelling flavour of the mediterranean food she was preparing is a great memory.
Then I am not into a kind of music but do prefer rock, reggae songs.
I don't really like watching movies, I'm more into documentaries. I love to watch a tv show called "J'irai dormir chez vous" translated "I will sleep in your house". A French journalist grabs his camera and travels alone in the world without a technicians team, just alone. His goal is to stop stranger in the street and ask them for sleeping in their house. Very funny and authentic ! Here an episod : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg3ZGNkbdMw
