Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
I tried not to dwell on the past, but live in the present and dream of what is to come.
ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is ... Nick. The two things I'm most passionate about are traveling and cooking. A major defining moment in my life was one of my first international trips, to the beautiful country of Nicaragua. I was only 13 years old at the time and it rocked my world. I was given insight to how the majority of the world lives. I changed from a somewhat spoiled-sheltered-shy-suburban kid to a minimalist-open-minded kid with new world views. Since that eye-opening experience, I have fallen in love with learning about new cultures, meeting wonderful new people and exploring different cuisines all over the world. Luckily, my two passions play off one another. I grew up with a mother who managed many restaurants and even opened her own. She taught me the ways of the kitchen. As long as I can remember, I constantly tried to get involved with what she was doing in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking for friends, learning new dishes and trying to expand my palette and skills from time-to-time by throwing random ingredients into a pan. As a recent graduate, I now look forward to planning my next adventures.
PHILOSOPHY
Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love the idea of the site. Couchsurfing has long been a favored form of travelling for me. Fortunately for us, this form of travel has finally been introduced to technology and has connected all the wonderful people that gravitate to this form of travel. I enjoy constantly meeting people and the company of old friends at our bi-monthly beerluck/potlucks which are always a good time. In addition, I co-host with my roommate. Just recently, I have moved back to St. Louis, MO and have found a place I can call my own. I now look to get involved with the CSers stationed in this new city and hope to host those just passing through.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Throughout my travels I have had the opportunity to spend a few nights with friends met at a moments notice. Spontaneity is Awesome. My roommate got me interested in the CS website. I have helped host travelers with my roommate from near, Kentucky, and far, France.

Música, películas y libros

Algo increíble que he hecho
I have always loved the water since I was a child. However, the experience that sparked my interest in whitewater rafting was during my time studying in Costa Rica. I had the opportunity to raft the Rio Pacuare and the Siquirres after days of rain, making all the rapids a level higher than normal. Talk about a face full of water. A exciting and life changing experience. I'm now venturing into kayaking.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I have studied Spanish through high school and college. In 2007, I studied abroad in Costa Rica improving my spanish and international business skills. Last summer (2009), I had the opportunity to work as a translator and coordinator for a local organization in Nicaragua. I can help people get started in their new language and I'm always down to practice a little. Anything we stumble upon, we can share in the learning process.
