About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet all kinds of people, live all over the world, and take advantage of any opportunities that come my way!
ABOUT ME
My goodness, my profile was 6 years old. I think I will update it. Where to begin... I'm a 30-yr old chick who is back in school for a 2nd degree, after working for a travel company and figuring out that I'd much rather save $ to go traveling on my own (or do something worthwhile that I can then use as an excuse to travel and help people at the same time), instead of putting trips together for spoiled rich people. ;)
I'm a native of Tampa, FL, but lucky in that my travels have taken me all around the world - most recently to Colombia, and East and Southern Africa, but also on backpacking trips through Europe. I also went to university in Newcastle, England for awhile.
I have a zillion interests - meteorology and aviation, all sciences. I'm slowly getting more comfortable with politics (which I was always disinterested in until the past few years).
PHILOSOPHY
Be good to people, be grateful for life and take advantage of good health, and smile even if things are going miserably, because no matter how bad things seem to be, they could always be worse.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I lived in Louisiana many years ago, I met some local couchsurfers who turned out to be pretty darn cool. That has pretty much been the extent of my experience with the couchsurfing website. That said, I've crashed on quite a few couches, floors, and backseats of cars in my lifetime.
Interests
Travelling. :) Movies. Weather. Natural sciences. Reading, mainly non-fiction stuff. Riding my bike. Meeting new people. Going to festivals.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Godfather (I & II), The Talented Mr Ripley, Amelie, documentaries, some foreign flicks, movies that take place in big cities, Hitchcock (especially if it contains Cary Grant). Books: non-fiction all the way baby! Music: This is where it gets a little weird. Old ragtime (Scott Joplin), New Orleans jazz piano-type-stuff (Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton, Willie "the lion" Smith, etc), & early jazz. Darn old country (Ernest Tubb, Roy Acuff, Hank Sr), some more recent country (Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson). Swing (Benny Goodman is my fave). Also old French musique (Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour). Also some psychedelic classic rock-type-stuff (The Doors, Floyd) & Hippie music (Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, Grateful Dead, Cat Stevens). Even some 80's stuff (for nostalgia's sake), and tons & tons & tons & tons more.
And of course The Beatles.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Flying out to the Alaskan wilderness to go bear watching with 3 other people. It was crazy-windy and I swear the plane almost flipped over. Landed on a little (TINY) lake in the middle of nowhere, hiked thru the tundra* to a river where we saw bears eating salmon in the wild (the river was pink with salmon!). Truly TRULY an amazing experience!! Alaska... big ice!
* Okay, so technically I guess it's not "tundra" but it sure felt like it to me!
