About Me

CURRENT MISSION

(/._.)/

ABOUT ME

I was born in California and moved to the other side of the country to escape the bad air. Moved up to NYC to breathe it again. After a brief stint as a socialite ex-pat drinking in the smoke machine smoke and loud speaker noise of the nighttime in Berlin., I moved to the hazy hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I'm a photographer and DIY zine publisher. I play a lot of music (as Haunted Ghost) on myriad instruments. try to make movies and write novels but usually end up falling short.

PHILOSOPHY

some hybrid of Taoist and Apatheist thought. We live now, not in the future or the past. Life is a series of moments, and like a sky full of stars, they are ever changing and some fade away while others burn forever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer up my couch to any who wish to occupy it for a night or two (or more) and am also more than willing to give anyone some coffee or beer and a tour of the town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've survived on friends couches (and in my car) for stints in Chapel Hill, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York City. Couchsurfed in Montreal for a weekend and through Western Europe for summer '08. Couchsurfed across America in the fall '09. Couchsurfed through Eastern Europe in the fall of '10. Couchsurfed a bit across Europe again in 2013.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Criterion repetoire, Stranded in Kanton, The Brothers Quay, Noi, Tarnation, Brick, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and my guilty pleasure is ridiculous action movies. The more explosions the better.

Music: Electronic music! Nonplus Records, R&S Records, Tri-Angle Records, Hotflush Recordings, Hessle Audio, Ternsec, Ostgut Ton, She Works the Long Nights, SunKlown, Token Records, Vase Recordings, Mount Kimbie, Burial, Koreless. Really anything ambient/drone (Eluvium, Stars of the Lid, Pausal, Drafted by Minotaurs, Event Cloak, Loscil, Library Tapes,Tim Hecker, etc) and anything post-rock (Godspeed You Black Emperor!, A Silver Mt. Zion, The Ascent of Everest, etc.)

Books: Dave Eggers, Mark Danielewski, James Joyce, Irvine Welsh, T.S. Eliot always astounds me and WE by Yegeny Zamyatin may be on of those "most important books ever".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled for 84 days in Europe. Never paid for a place to sleep. Was homeless more than thrice.

Traveled for 44 days in America. Drove from NC to Vancouver, down to LA, back to NC, then up to NYC again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can maybe teach some odd instrument here or there. I'm full of useless trivia about most pop culture things too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cayman Islands, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
