About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mexico and Cuba in December!

ABOUT ME

I'm a wildlife biologist, based out of Denver, Colorado. I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. I went to college in New Orleans. Now I roam the wilds conducting conservation- oriented field research. My work takes me all over the US and abroad. I also spend most winters traveling for fun.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep an open mind and a positive attitude. Try just about anything and everything at least once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm fortunate enough to be able to consider myself somewhat well-traveled and many of my absolute best experiences have been staying with people native to the area or adopted locals.

I've hosted a couple times in the past. However, I have pretty much been doing the analog version for quite a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

Peter Matthiessen's "The Snow Leopard" is my all-time favorite book. I can't recommend it enough! Ernest Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, Aldo Leopold, Edward Abbey, Wendall Berry, are among my favorite authors. I read a lot of non-fiction though.

For the most part, I listen to the whole musical spectrum. My dad has a deep love for music, which he instilled in me from an early age. Much of my childhood travels were centered around or at least involved going to live performances of some sort.

I have a special affinity for Hip-Hop, Blues, Jazz, R+B, Funk, Rock, Bluegrass, Reggae, and Electronic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once sat on a 2nd class Indian Train Car luggage rack for 7 hours, going from Varanasi to Gaya, because it was so crowded. That was after a 6-hour delay.
