About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Recently moved to Los Angeles from Hong Kong and turned a new page of my life! Looking forward to what LA has to offer!!
"Be the change I want to see in the world"
ABOUT ME
My friends will say that I am friendly and hard-working. I am open-minded and I read comparative literature, cultural studies, and gender studies at university and I hope to be an educator in my future. Very outgoing and would like to explore the world and live my life to the fullest. Hardcore traveller!
I am in love with international relations and politics, and I was an avid member of Model United Nations when I was an undergrad. I even participated in Harvard National Model United Nations in Boston, which is one of my most unforgettable experiences in life. I later took part in Global Citizenship Programme in New York where I could attend seminars inside the UN headquarters, and at transnational NGOs such as Human Rights Watch. It further broadened my horizons about the world and I have developed a sensitive attitude towards global issues.
When I was in high school, I was a devoted volunteer to a programme called Hong Kong Young Ambassador, and I dedicated more than 100 hours to serving the tourists from all around the globe. I also volunteered as a teaching assistant in some primary and secondary schools when I was in university, and I even taught some underprivileged kids maths in London! I love kids and I hope to provide the best education for them since they are the future pillars of society, and I was really touched by them as I felt their eagerness to learn when I was volunteering. I was also a course leader and led a group of students to Gold Coast, Australia for an English summer learning camp for 3 weeks.
Moreover I am immensely blessed to have achieved a number of scholarships in my life to make my dreams possible. I am especially thankful for the support of HSBC, Swire and TWF so that I can gain access to the best education in the world like UCL and Cambridge. I am born into a grassroots family and I have never expected to travel, let alone study overseas when I grow up, and I am really grateful for those who helped me along my life journey so far, and I hope to give back to society as long as I can!
My motto: Exploring oneself is a life-long pursuit and I am just a beginner. Never cease to learn and acquire knowledge in your life.
PHILOSOPHY
-Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all
-Love and respect
-Be genuine to yourself and people around you
-Lets celebrate diversity in the world. I don't like being judgemental towards others and I embrace all kinds of values (as long as it doesn't hurt others and it is innately good). I hate all sorts of discrimination, and bigotry people. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
"You can be destroyed but not be defeated"
-Ernest Hemingway "Old Man and The Sea"
"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education"
-Mark Twain
"So shalt thou feed on Death, that feeds on men,
And Death once dead, there's no more dying then."
-William Shakespeare
"Success is never final and failure never fatal. It's courage that counts."
-Winston Churchill
"Seize the day/Carpe diem"
-from Dead Poets Society
"I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most, to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return"
-The Song "For Good" from Wicked
