Overview
About Me
I was lucky enough in my 20s to Couch Surf around Europe and the Middle East. It was such a big deal for me to be roaming around this grand old Earth and see places I will likely never see again, and I learnt how kind people can be.
9 years later, I'm back in Scotland on a bit of a pilgrimage looking to see what the landscape where my people once lived, and I've just spent time at a music school learning Gaelic songs in South Uist. I'm lucky enough to live with people that are able to take care of our animals and gardens, that for the first time since I was in Scotland last I am away in the summer!
I really love my life and am happy to share some of the stories of the riches of my days with someone who would similarly help me learn about Perthshire and Lanarkshire where my people once lived.
Also. I DON"T HAVE A CELL PHONE, so I'm not good at last minute arranging, I will be stoping in to use Internet cafes (if they still exist).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Tell people about it where ever I go. I have been to some meetings, have traveled with many couch surfers, and am home and ready to be a host!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Over all very positive. I have met some really amazing, life changing people through CS. I've also had to be very cautious. My best couch surfing experiences have been at hosts who have multiple people staying with them and having conversations with people from all over the world. I've learnt very important things: like the cat is the only animal (so far) that makes the same sound in every language!
Interests
I'm interested in many things, currently I'm learning about wools, and weaving and dying.
- animals
- horses
- singing
- dining
- guitar
- canoeing
- camping
- swimming
Music, Movies, and Books
I love music with harmonies, especially music from the republic of Georgia.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lead a group of girls on a 15 day canoe trip. On the 3rd day they all broke down crying saying they would never be able to complete the trip. I came at them with a smile and said `the only way to get out of the bush is to keep going. You`ll be laughing at the end of this!` The amazing part was when they all finished the trip with the biggest smiles on the faces, and the greatest sense of accomplishment!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook, to spin wool, to weave (backstrap or inkle loom), tend to animals, garden, and sing. And I'd love to learn about Perthshire and Lanarkshire Scotland.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A good meal, a few songs, and stories.
