About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploration. Relation. Creation.
ABOUT ME
Lover of urban life, the nitty-gritty, photography, chocolate, appreciator of all arts, budding tea enthusiast and when I want to, a cranky coffee connoisseur. I'm learning to live more healthy (did I say chocolate?) and respect different cultures and their cuisines.
Detroiter at heart, but I left it in San Francisco. Human. Real. Borderline vegetarian. I'll take my meat when I can get it (waves rainbow flag in air). Thrifty. Philosophizer. Photographer. Blogger. Mac lover. Liberal but I'm a free-thinker and an autodidact. Bonus points if you know what that is!
I'm always open-minded, stick to my guns when need be, but never a conformist. I like to focus my passions on this planet.
Music keeps me sane. Cinema takes me away to fantasyland. Exploring and couchsurfing opens my eyes to the real world.
PHILOSOPHY
Live in the now. Take risks. Don't be complacent. Be yourself.
Be green and respect the earth - Mother Nature always wins.
I think our purpose in life isn't so much about ourselves. It's about what we do for others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My life is fairly fluid right now and ever changes, so while I cannot host at the time, I embody the spirit and ethics of CS with roommates, friends, acquaintances.
Last year I took a month-long road trip across America. Many great experiences, new friends, detours and a few libations here and there. [I think we all understand that means: everywhere]

Interests
I have a few core things that get me through the day...
A means to express myself - photography, sketching, writing, cooking.
Time outside -basically any exposure. Good fresh air. Seeing people. Seeing life. Riding my bike.
A means to calm me - reading, writing, long walks, or possibly meditating. Photography also focuses my mind.
I love good food and I've been slowly growing at trying different cuisines. I love to cook and hands-down am willing to learn new recipes, techniques and am interested in different foods and their history.
UPDATE: I'm fairly certain I'm a vegetarian/vegan now. Fairly certain, but the jury might still be out.
Music, photos and film expose my raw emotions. I'm a very emotional viewer and listener. I can't help but be moved by them. It's part of me connecting and understanding the story, the character, the lyrics, the subject in the photo, etc.
I'm really into architecture of all kinds. This is best expressed in my photography. I think humankind has created some purely amazing feats of wonder and although it is my goal to explore and see those myself, it is also my goal to share those monumental works with my perspective as well.
Seeing photos from around the world really sparks my interest.
I'm a very empathic person, which goes alongside of being intuitive. So I like learning about deep, personal stories even if I'm a total stranger I can quite often completely connect with that person. And I like giving advice, my own twist on reality.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music from a lot of different genres. 70's old school/disco; 80's new wave and synthpop; Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, The Smiths, Led Zeppelin, The Temptations.
Books - Anything that keeps me on my toes, such as Food INC or The Last Emergency; otherwise keep me in the fantasy world!
Film - Too many to list. Let's just pick something and watch.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Everyday people on the streets amaze me every day. They each have a story to be told.
My road trip last year was pretty rad. Living in Detroit has been... fairly interesting.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll teach you about all things Detroit. Everyone loves Detroit nowadays. I also adore San Francisco, and plan on going back again in the future.
I'm a bit of a mac slut, but I'm actually a bit of an anti-social media whore. I like old-fashioned conversation, as much as I like Old Fashioneds.
I'm like a good wine that gets better with age. Doesn't everything?
