Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
After 2 years volunteering in Africa, I'm trying to ease my way back to America!
ABOUT ME
I'm really interested in cross-cultural communication and getting to know a new place through it's people. I've found through my travels that I learn the most about somewhere by sharing with others.
I like to walk to explore a new place; there's nothing like walking a town or city to really learn something about it. And nothing can beat trains between cities for gaining an appreciation for the spaces people are living in.
As a host, I think I've done pretty well - I learned about couch surfing while living in rural West Africa and have hosted a good number of people out there, through couch surfing and informally. That's pretty difficult with the really limited infrastructure in my neck of the woods.
As a guest, I am low maintenance, don't need much. I will gladly take what time and effort you have to give - a tour around, a conversation over coffee, a beer or wine, a shared meal - but I also understand if your busy and can be independent as well.
As to what I do, I enjoy meeting new people, challenging myself and learning about places and cultures. I'm a big walker, biker and hiker. I've just finished living in Guinea, Mali and Malawi in Africa for 3 years as a development worker and am taking the slow way back to America to see friends and family.
PHILOSOPHY
Helping each other, interdependently, is the highest good.
