ABOUT ME

Smart, sassy, and spicy, I have a serious knack for mischief and very irreverent sense of humor. I take goofing off very seriously.

I figure if I don't have great tales to tell, I'm doing something wrong. I try to do the unexpected; it leads to all kinds of adventures.

I'm spontaneous and I have a serious lust for life. I'm pretty active, I'll try anything twice, and love getting out of my comfort zone.

I love meeting passionate people who share their enthusiasm and teach me new things. Geeking out is strongly encouraged. I love it when people push me to try new things that I never would do on my own.

PHILOSOPHY

I ask myself frequently, "Am I living a life worth dying for?" If I cannot answer yes, then it's time to shake things up! I believe we make our own lives and choose our own happiness. People are the center of my universe - I love meeting people and connecting and learning from their perspective, sharing their enthusiasm about their interests, their cities, and their passions. And I try to make a positive impact whenever possible, volunteering, working in education, and generally being good to other people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met members in a few cities as I've traveled from Mexico City to my current location, Lima, Peru. Made some great friends who share travel tips, have taught me a lot about their hometowns, and introduced me to their friends, families, and cultures. Looking forward for the chance to stay with someone & one day return the favor when I make it back home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm brand new to the community. I met some people during my travels in Mexico City who were really involved in the community and encouraged me to join to meet other awesome people.

Interests

Everything fascinates me. I have a genuine curiosity about life and culture. Travel, writing, dancing, art, film, literature, cultures - particularly latino cultures - are some of my biggest interests. I also love surfing, though I'm just beginning & not very good at it!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a bit film and music obsessed, so this is impossible to answer. I can listen to/watch completely silly cheesy things or very artsy stuff as long as it's fun & well-made. I love to dance to practically anything! Show me your favorite movie or play your favorite song, I'd love to see/hear it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many, but this one stands out: While spending time last summer in Puerto Rico with a friend who grew up there, we hiked in El Yunque through the thick rain forest and to the waterfall, where we swam in the frigid, sweeping waters of the pool below. There, swimming in a cold pool at the base of a waterfall in a rain forest on a mountain in the most biodiverse place on Earth, in that moment, I felt alive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I recently finished a TEFL certification to teach English. Having studied it in college, I have a vast knowledge of art, film, social, and political movements, especially of minorities, particularly blacks & latinos. I work in communities of color in the United States. I'm passionate about social justice and volunteering, traveling, and dancing. I can teach you some burlesque & belly dance moves!
