About Me

Hi guys, I live in a beautiful small village, in a region called West Friesland. My husband and I moved from the city to the country in 2018. We now live around 15 minutes away from the citycenter of Hoorn (by car).

The surroundings are excellent to cycle, run, hike, yoga, kite, sail, SUP, swim, and other (water)sports.

You can just walk around in the polders of West Friesland. Or explore the historical citycenter of Hoorn, port and visit one of the terraces after you´ve checked out the Museum of the 20th century (or one of the other musea).

Hoorn has nice restaurants for every budget and of course you can use our fully equipt kitchen or we can cook together!

To give you a glimpse of the surrounding take a look at this video:

https://youtu.be/3Cz_Hvzpyis 😁

Amsterdam CS is about 30 minutes away by train and you can travel directly from Schiphol Airport to Hoorn CS.
I don't mind to pick you up at the station if I'm able to!

Other nice 'must see' in this region are cities like Medemblik (go there by steam train :D) and Enkhuizen (where I used to work).

I love: the beach, cooking (I consider myself a flexanist... a WHAAAATTT??!? just ask, you'll find out), festivals, Dance, freediving, scuba diving, yoga, swimming, DJ-ing, reading books, study, exercise, walk around in a city, forest and dunes, get in touch with different cultures, meet new people, have interesting conversations and have fun.

My latest project since we moved to the country is setting up my own kitchen garden, grow my own mushrooms (no psy😆) and foraging in the wild.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know: I am trying to make conscious choices in this western world of abundance. Still have a lot to learn. I would really appreciate if you are willing to share your knowledge about sustainability with me so I can improve myself.

I am an ambassador or Ocean Nomads community, so if you are an oceanlover yourself pleas join this amazing tribe. www.oceannomads.co You'll find like minded people and all the help you need regarding ocean adventures, sustainable living, sailing etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was living on Bonaire for a few months and during a freedive course I met a girl who was couchsurfing (you should definitely check out her websites http://destinationxploration.com www.oceanpreneur.com ). We became friends and even lived together for a couple of weeks. Some of my closest friends are hosts too and now I thought: 'hey why not get into it myself?'
It's a great opportunity to meet new people from different cultures. And I'm looking forward to impress guests with our warm hospitality.

Interests

Sustainability, environmental care, yoga, music, people, different cultures, freediving, festivals, food and my husband Sander is interested in astronomy (he can tell you a lot about the universe unless your name is Sheldon Cooper).

Music, Movies, and Books

Mainly House music (the whole spectrum of it, I don't like genres: I love music).
In general order I'll give you a glimpse of the artist/dj's/producers I like: Rob Hes, Oxia, Energenius, Roger Sanchez, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Neophyte, Lucien Foort, Sied van Riel, Dimitri, Jaydee (Robin Albers), Promo, Adam Beyer, Sasha, Darkraver, Maya Jane Coles, Dennis Ruyer, Ida Engberg, Ici Sans Merci.

Dutch pop artists such as Doe maar, Dotan, Blaudzun, Racoon, Anouk and Herman van Veen, the Memphis Maniacs, Kensington.

International artists: Bob Marley, Tracy Bonham, The Doors, Snow Patrol, Massive Attack, Madonna, Skunk Anansie, The prodigy, Pink.

And many many more........

Lots of movies :D!! Still have some DVD's (🙈). A glimpse in our closet: The colour purple, American Beauty, Trainspotting, The big blue, Biutiful, all Tarentino movies, lots of Disney (sssssht it's my guilty pleasure), Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The big bang theory, Friends, SatC.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've reached 28 metres of depth with freediving and while I was in the big blue I enjoyed watching turtles, tarpons, tuna, coral and other sealife.

Teach, Learn, Share

The next language I want to learn is Spanish.

In yoga I am practicing the headstand. Still need a wall for that, small steps every time ;-).

With freediving I am up for a AIDA 4*/SSI 3 course. Due to my inner work I paused freediving for a while. I will continue.

I also love to go to The School of Life by Alain de Botton (we have one in Amsterdam) and follow philosophical classes from time to time.

But most I learn from living, doing, listening, feeling and reflecting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sparkling personality, gastronomy, stories about the history of (house)music.

Countries I’ve Visited
