About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world through the medium of laid-back people who know how to have a good time - can't wait to meet more of you!

ABOUT ME

I took a wrong turn on the way out of university and found myself employed. Well, I didn't have it too bad, as my first proper job after uni was researching for documentaries for the BBC - History and Sciences mostly. If you ever want a detailed criticism of British Broadcasting ask me sometime - but there are better things in this life to talk about!

These days I work as a magazine journalist in London, and dare I say it, I enjoy it.

I'm friendly and chilled out, and I love meeting more and more people - I like to think you take something, good or bad, from nearly everyone you meet, so why make do with limited encounters?

PHILOSOPHY

Explore, explore, explore! But really, nothing matters more than loving somebody, being with your closest friends, and seeing all the wonders there are in this planet. everything else is just window-dressing

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sharing the wonder that is "London as Londoners know it", which in itself is completely different from one Londoner to another!

I've hosted more than I can count, met others for drinks, coffees, food, or all, and been lucky enough to couchsurf myself with some of the finest, most generous people I've ever known

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a fair few people, had quite a few coffees and beers with some fantastic folk from around the world, and been lucky enough to have stayed with some great people couchsurfing in Morocco, Croatia, Germany and America

Interests

Is there anyone on here who won't say they love travel? I'm no different! Life can be over in a blink, so keep your eyes wide open and take in as much as you can before you go. I want to see so much of the world, but why do it in silence when you can meet like-minded people and see the sides of their hometowns that you never would without "insider knowledge"!

I LOVE cooking (never English food, don't worry!) so if anyone's good enough to put me up for a night or two I'd be more than happy to thank them with a culinary treat.

Being an Englishman (and half Australian), I'm gonna have to confess to loving my drink and my football too. I'm always going out to clubs and bars, love dancing (salsa-samba great fun, but do the indie "jump and sway" too!), but love grabbing a few chilled out drinks with good company too

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the Himalayas for 8 months. I taught English to the monks, I was woken up for prayer at 4.30am with a gong each day, food was bread, rice or gruel, and I had the most amazing time of my life. It gave me a new perspective on life, it's priorities, and the need for calm.

I also shaved my head, but just the once, as I was advised by an english person I met that I looked like "Uncle Fester from the Addams Family" - and raindrops kept freaking me out when they landed on my scalp

I've also lived and worked in Mumbai launching a magazine, or at least trying my best to!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I hope I can teach a fair few things about London if anyone visits, and about the English (gawd bless us) whether I'm home or away.

Practical skills? I adore cooking, it's how I relax, how I make sense of the world, and how I light up upon sharing food with others. I'll show you a couple of kitchen tricks, but I'm just as happy to learn a couple as well!

I'd offer to teach a bit of martial arts, but I'm hoping to be a good guest, so fighting's generally a no-no

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Croatia, Ethiopia, France, India, Morocco, Nepal, Portugal, Serbia, Syrian Arab Republic, United States
