I travel (as most of us here do) and love the CS community. Favorites have been working in Mongolia for two years and a motorcycle trip from Scotland to South Africa a couple summers ago. Now I am lusting for a new challenge. So I might be in touch with regards to new ideas...

PHILOSOPHY

The buddhists say; "This would be a problem if I existed." I like the idea of no-self, it helps a lot in travel.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In planning for the motorcycle trip, I came across this quote from a fellow bike-traveler about the way we, as a community of travelers, affirm each other through the act of passing in and out of each other's lives: "Then began a long apprenticeship, to become something certain in my own right, from which to see and be seen. Beyond that came the search for connections, freely offered and accepted, to confirm that the world and I, after all, were made of eachother."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first observer, then surfer, then host and avid local community participant, and now surfer once again.

I will do pretty much anything, but highlights from the past include riding motorcycles, photography, billiards, all kinds of outdoors activities (rock climbing was a favorite, but also hiking, camping, kayaking, and long distance trekking). Really, anything.

For all my travels, the most amazing thing I have done recently is solitary retreat in the mountains. I would like to build a cabin sometime and be a hermit for a little while.
