Overview
About Me
I recently finished graduate school and found a job I love that allows me to travel a lot! I work as a field biologist collecting data/monitoring commercial fishing activities in US fisheries in an attempt to help keep commercial fishing sustainable. I love the outdoors, playing chef, and meeting new people!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I met a few people who were actively hosting/surfing; they raved about the experience. I joined because while my job allows me to travel a lot, it's frequently on short notice and to random places. I enjoy meeting new people and would love to be able to do more traveling /exploring/adventuring while networking/making new friends when I'm not on an assignment.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm currently on a Celtic Punk kick...I blame Spotify.
Other recent favorites include: Panic at the Disco, Halsey, Klangkarussell, Cheat Codes Remixes, Ofenbach, Win and Woo, Bryce Vine, MO, Eminem, La Roux, and Flume
Movies - to be honest, I watch whatever I happen to have on my hard-drive at the time, though I tend to be drawn to independent films when I have a choice. Still, when I have access to streaming services, I'll binge watch Friends, The Office, and Broad City with the best of them!
Books/Audiobooks -lately I've been mostly listening to podcasts, but I'm currently working on "What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions" and "New Spring: A Wheel of Time Novel"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent 90 out of the past 170 days working on commercial crabbing vessels in the Bering Sea.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a total science nerd and can't help but bring some of that into everyday conversation and hands on demonstration - I used to be a nanny, so I'm great at explaining/hands on demonstrations!
Cooking is a passion of mine; I don't often have a full kitchen to use, but when I do, I LOVE to cook for people. I can create omnivore, vegetarian, and vegan meals that will knock your socks off !
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've been called a jack of all trades - I have a broad range of interests and skills...
I'd be more than happy to cook a meal (or few) for my host/host family!
Card/board games are something I love & enjoy sharing with others; I usually carry a few board/card games with me & love teaching/sharing new games with people.
I have an arsenal of arts/crafts/hands on learning experiences up my sleeves from the 10ish years I spent as a nanny (as well as an eclectic collection of domestic/handy-woman skills) so if you need a hand fixing a small project , need help with a craft project/inspiration, or just want to learn some new ways to entertain kids - I've got you covered!
Last but not least, stories - swapping stories, whether it be about life, travel, wild/crazy experiences... sitting down and swapping stories over a coffee/beer is definitely one of my favorite pastimes.
