Overview
About Me
I'm in my late 30s and work on global health policy in Washington, DC. Frequent travel is an occupational hazard, and I'm often trapped in charmless chain hotels and meeting rooms. So when I travel for fun, I like to break away from that a bit and immerse myself more so I can get to know how locals live.
When traveling, I always prefer public transit or walking because I feel like that's the best way to get a feel for a place. In fact, I never really feel like I've been somewhere until I've gotten lost and managed to find my way back where I belong. I'm also really into both food and wine, so would welcome any recommendations you might have about great local spots (preferably off-the-beaten-path).
I'm also quiet and neat and very respectful of other people's space and belongings, so rest assured that I will treat your home well!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm hoping to meet locals so that I can get to know the places I visit better. I'm currently traveling through South America and am eager to get out of the tourist circuit and understand the local cultures, politics, etc. I have found that hostels make it easy to meet other travelers, but finding places to meet locals is harder. Please send me your advice on your favorite things to do in your town!
