CURRENT MISSION

I live in Franz Josef glacier new Zealand.

To have fun, learn about myself and my fellow human beings and help them out whenever possible.

ABOUT ME

Important: I'm likely going to be in New Zealand for 2016 and all of 2017. I'm traveling to all six non frozen continents. I'm an artist/musician. I studied political science in University but I like to paint and play guitar and violin in my free time. I'm usually vegetarian but since I'm on an epic journey I'm going with the flow and eating whatever is available, in the interest of having the full cultural expeience. I'm open to anything--going to museums, wandering around for hours, basically trying anything new.

PHILOSOPHY

Have fun but be conscientious. I am partial to Buddhism but not dogmatic or religious. I do try to meditate every day as I find it useful in calming the mind and gaining valuable perspective. Everything is impermanent, so try to release the ego, don't cling to material things, don't focus on the negative because it will pass. Be kind always, but don't beat yourself up when you're less than perfect.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I lived in Portland last year, my roommates and I shared our home with couch-surfers from Germany, England, the US and Canada. They were all great and we had a lot of fun... In general I haven't really been involved on the site in the last 5 years because I've been moving around quite a lot, so I rarely had a permanent residence to host people from. (Now that I think of it, however, I should have used the site as a guest! But hey, that's what I'm doing now.

I'm glad to do dishes, rake lawns and other chores to help out our hosts. Other than that, I'm hoping we can have a good time hanging out together, going out on the town to various social gatherings, museums, bars, parks, art events and so on. Hopefully my hosts will enjoy my company and will be inspired to explore more of their own cities along with me. Oh, and I can cook and fix things.
