About Me

I'm Lorenzo, 31 years old, ESL Teacher and Writer. I was born in South Africa, raised in the UK but my heritage comes from a wide range of places, mostly around Europe. So naturally I feel like a bit of a 'nomad', not really tied to one particular country but keen to explore as much as I can and meet new and interesting people.

In my free time I love exercise. I'm a keen runner and footballer and love to walk and just live a generally active lifestyle. I'm an avid reader of just about anything and love all things related to words and language, whether it's writing stories or working on my French. I'm naturally very curious and live for good conversations!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with people and swap stories. To see a place through the eyes of someone who calls it home. To avoid lining the pockets of chain hotels in favour of a more personal and unique experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is broad and eclectic, and what I'm into depends on when you ask me. Right now I'm loving African funk, rock and blues, especially Ali and Vieux Farka Touré. I try to avoid music that is too generic or 'safe', and I'm always trawling through Spotify for new finds.
I love reading philosophy although I want to read more novels and something a bit more light-hearted :D
Films, I typically love anything by Tarantino or the Coen Brothers, but I'm also very interested in just about anything that's out there. Just not Marvel movies or transformers :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked to the top of the two biggest dunes at Sossusvlei, Namibia.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love of food and I'm always prepared to get involved in cooking something delicious (although I only eat vegan food myself). I am equally happy partying late into the night or chatting for hours over coffee, so long as I'm with good people. Above all I can offer an open heart and mind and a willingness to learn and get to know people :)
