About Me
Hey everyone!
As you can read, my name is Lorenzo and I come from Italy! Yes, pizza, pasta, coffee, sun and much more! I grew up in Rome and lived my entire life there, unfortunately. I haven't had many chances to travel in my life but I have now decided to start my adventure. I want to meet new people from different cultural backgrounds, share my culture, also trying to persuade people that Italy is not entirely what people describe it like.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
“The world is a book, and those who don't travel only read one page."
- Augustine of Hippo
I will never stop worshipping this amazing quote. Not only does it mention one of my most precious hobby, reading, but also it relates it to travelling. Travelling means opening eyes. Travelling means challenge. Travelling means getting to know new cultures and new people. Travelling makes you live your life to the full.
Interests
I am a very scientific-minded person - I love everything that involves science in it. Other than that, I have also cultivated a deep passion for literature: I love any kind of European literature, Italian, English, French but also ancient literature such as Latin and Greek. Oh, by the way, "carpe diem" doesn't simply mean seize the day... ;) I am so eager to learn more about literatures that I have never had the privilege to be exposed to.
What would be the best way to appreciate a new literature? Surely, reading in the original language! Here comes my great interest in learning languages. Speaking another language means to have the key for a new door, for a new world to appreciate and experience.
Volleyball, tennis and ping pong - great sports! :D
Hit me up to know more about all of this - I'd be happy to share my passions and interests with you, hoping you will find as stimulating as I do!
Music, Movies, and Books
I am yet to have a great knowledge background in English books. Here a list of books I became so passionate about, from different types of literature:
1984 & Animal Farm - George Orwell. Amazing stories drawn into the environment of Russian revolution.
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - Robert Louis Stevenson. A classic but a must-have.
L'arte di essere fragili - Alessandro D'Avenia. One of my favourite books ever. There's no such an author able to describe the greatness of Giacomo Leopardi, Italian writer and poem of the 19th century.
The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. How cliché does this book sound? I read when I was 8 and again one year ago. A completely different story.
Music and Movies - something to talk about, right? :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I reached the North Cape in Norway and I took a shirtless selfie at below -10°C, because why not?
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to think about teaching as an awakener. Everybody has something to teach, something to tell, something to share. Maybe to open the eyes wider. Or to see reality from a new perspective. So, so, so exciting!
