About Me

I'm an easy going person who is trying to experience all that I can. I sacrifice luxuries to take more trips. I try to take at least one, preferably two international trips a year, but take a lot of domestic trips visiting friends and family or taking road trips and camping. I love the National Parks, history, culture, music, diversity, and food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To learn from the locals' perspective awesome things to do, sights to see, great food to eat, and to share travel experiences.

Interests

Traveling, camping, hiking, beginning photography, watching sunsets, going to the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving, cooking, trying new cuisines, positive thinking, snuggling with cats, going to aquariums, music, whiskey

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
Rock, metal, pop, Hawaiian, oldies, motown, blues, reggae, dancehall, soca rap, hip hop, R&B, world, classical, jazz

Books
I don't read many books. It's challenging for me. The last books I've read (not counting reading to children) was the Harry Potter series. I want to start the Game of Thrones books, but I'm waiting until they're all out. I learned from Harry Potter that waiting for the next book feels like eternity.

Movies
Action, adventure, special effects, comedy, family, sci-fi, animated, anime, vampire and werewolf horror but not scary movie horror

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Up Helly Aa (epic Viking ship pyro festival)
Carnival in Trinidad
Played with dire wolves (Bran's and Rob's)
I went scuba diving down 75 feet with zero experience in Honduras. It was amazing!
I was in Ayuntamiento (City Hall Square) for the Chupinazo (opening ceremony) and watched San Fermin (the running of the bulls) in Pamplona, Spain.
I was in the Piazza del Campo during the historic Palio di Siena (in Italy) on July 2, 2017. It was a historic horse race because one horse refused to run, so the Palio was held with 9 horses instead of 10. This tradition dates back to the 6th century.
I've been skydiving on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
I saw the natural phenomenon Fire Fall in Yosemite National Park.
I've been in Death Valley National Park during a Super Bloom. Twice.
Took a swim in Glacier National Park. Brr! :D
I've swam with sting rays at Stingray City, Grand Cayman Island. I kissed one too!
I backpacked for three months in Europe, then again for five months.
I got to drive a WWII Kübelwagen.
I made something blacksmithing.
I hiked to the top of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales and the 3rd highest in the British Isles.
I went to the first ever German Camp at the D-Day Festival in Normandy, France and was spontaneously pulled into their first reenactment performance.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some Hawaiian words. I can share travel experiences, good conversion, laughter, music. I can help cook and assist with the dishes. I'm always trying to learn and improve.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully, my experiences and enthusiasm will create a lifetime friendship or at least expand their horizons or give them traveling ideas.
