Overview
About Me
Hey ! My name is Lorine, I'm French, and also a curious/creative/peaceful/mother of a cat type of individual. I value above all open-mindedness and tolerance and hope for a more inclusive world (trying to have a more active role in it). I'm currently a student in history of art, history of photography and gender studies. These made me even more eager to learn, absorb and understand the society we live in through art. I'm also a photographer, always did and always will love photography, the material dimension of it as well as the history it caries. I'm a fan of polaroid and photomaton, but always carrying my digital camera. I would love to practice more with analog and have my own dark room.
In terms of travelling or living, I'm not really in a rush and I like to enjoy a day-to-day life (when and if I can), appreciating slowly the city or more precisely feeling the energy of the place I'm in. I'm spontaneous enough to change my plans if needed, to accomodate myself to others and their offers, to enjoy the moment and the opportunities, but I'm also organized, independant and determined. In the end, I'm really respectful of people's boundaries and rules of living.
N.B. I'm sorry for my never-ending sentences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just think meeting locals while travelling is so much better. Even though I like solitude and being on my own, I always enjoy new encounters. I also LOVE learning from others.

Music, Movies, and Books
In a nutshell Cocteau Twins, Lhasa de Sela, Princess Nokia, Björk, disco and funk. David Lynch and Leos Carax are my faves. This is going to be very specific but I love diaries from women writers or artists, essays about them and polar novels. I'm also reading all I can on feminist, queer and antiracist theory. I'm an absolute fan of comics. Super interested by the feminist avant-garde of the 1970s. I love history of photography from the XIXe century and all the practices surrounding identity, self-representation and queer representation in photography or arts in general.
All that and so much more, I'm super super curious.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Slept under the sun, wind on my face, on a high hill overhanging the Ottawa river and just felt so alive.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love a passionate conversation about art and I'd be pleased to share the knowledge I have in this field. But I'm always here for passionate conversations in general, whatever the topic is. If you want to learn french I would love to speak it with you. I can also teach you some words in italian if you're a non italian-speaker.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a great listener so always here for stories or whatever you want to tell me :^). I'd be happy to share any activity with you if you're up to - such as walks in the city, going to the museum, biking, listening to music, watching a movie, cooking - but I also respect your way of life and your time, so we can see at the time. Also if you love tofu as I do and know some recipes I would definitely wanna know about them.
