ABOUT ME

Hi couch surfers! I'm a native Floridian now residing in Nashville, TN. I moved to Tennessee just over 2 years ago and have been busy building my career as a distiller for Corsair Distillery. I haven't had much time to travel lately, but I hope to change that this year. I am a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Humanities focusing in Art History. My mother was born and raised in Scotland, allowing me the chance to travel to Scotland and England for most of my life. Beyond that, I spent the summer of 2011 traveling around Europe where I was introduced to couch surfing for the first time, and haven't stopped using it since. I have had nothing but great experiences that have shown me that there are wonderful people all around the world willing to open their homes to fellow travelers. I love to meet new people and go out exploring when I visit a new place, and couch surfing was the best way to do just those things. Check out my profile to learn a little bit more about me. I hope that I will get to meet you soon!

PHILOSOPHY

Be open minded! Everyone has amazing talents and stories to share with the world. Never be afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger, because you never know who you're going to meet.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I learned about Couch Surfing through a book by Lonely Planet. After trying it for the first time I started to understand just how amazing the couch surfing community can be. I have stayed with various people and had multiple surfers stay with me in the past. I am currently unable to host due to lack of space but I am always open for meeting up for coffee or a drink!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed in 3 different countries with 3 amazing hosts in 2011. I had a great time and stayed with some really cool people. Although I was a little hesitant at first, I quickly realized that couch surfing is a fantastic community with very trustworthy and kind people. Since returning from my travels I have spread the word and tried my best to open the minds of others by sharing my stories in hopes that others will give it a try.

Centres d'intérêt

I have always been interested in the arts. I love photography, drawing/painting, film, printmaking having dabbled in all of the above. Music is also another big interest. I grew up in a musical family having also played piano for the majority of my life. I only recently picked up the ukulele and hope to learn more instruments in the future. After moving to Nashville, I began studying the process of making beer. A friend and I got a good deal on home brewing equipment, where I could start to put my knowledge into practice. I heard of a job opening at Corsair and took a chance at applying, where I am now learning to distill and have been for the past year.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I've grown up with my dad, a film enthusiast, who encouraged me to watch movies. I love that my parents encouraged me to explore various forms of art, even if this entailed watching A Clockwork Orange at age 12. Although scarring, I have continued to be open to any type of movie that comes my way. Stanley Kubrick still remains one of my favorite directors but I also love Wes Anderson films as well.

As far a music goes, I can never choose one type. I can give anything a try but I tend to listen to musicians such as Sufjan Stevens, Alt J, Delta Spirit, etc.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

There are too many things to write down but one of my favorite experiences so far has been studying abroad in Paris for a month. I met so many fantastic people in my group but also from traveling and talking to locals. There was something (as cheesy as it sounds) magical about the entire trip that can't really be explained.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

It is so true that you learn something new every day and I enjoy meeting people who can teach me these things. I'm always open to discussions and learning new and awesome things about life.
