About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make people around me smile as much as possible!
ABOUT ME
I am the type of person you would find sitting in the sunlight with a book in a park anywhere, enjoying the moment. I might come across as quirky or unusual but I actually am just a spontaneous girl who wants to meet interesting people everywhere and learn and see whatever there is to see.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a "stop and smell the flowers" kind of person. I like looking at the bright side of everything. I believe one of the most wonderful things in the whole wide world is the smell of damp earth after the rain and red leaves in the autumn. I love the little details that can keep us all smiling through the most difficult paths of our lives. I am also delving deeper into my spirituality and how I'd like that to be a more central part of my life.
READ BEFORE YOU REQUEST!
Begin your request with "Aloha, sweetie!" so I know you have at least read this far on my profile. Or chances are, I will just decline. Of course, don't let this stop you from reading the rest of my profile. I do appreciate personal requests where you tell me what we might have in common, why you want to stay with me, why I might want to host you, etc. You don't have to tell me all about yourself in the request though- that information belongs in your profile which I will certainly check out before I decide wether to have you over or not. Remember that if you have only a few references, I can only decide based on your request, and if it's a generic request, I'll probably decline. Put some love on it! :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I see couchsurfing as an exchange experience. Sure, you do this (like I did) to save money from accommodation but there is more involved to staying at someone's place than just the extra couch space. It is after all, home to us.
Our doors are open to people willing to respect our times and share some moments with us, yet probably not to those looking for a baby-sitting tour guide or absolutely uninterested in who we are.
Also we expect you to be mindful of what one of my CS friends calls 'Kitchen Karma' (You're welcome to take, but also please give back). I would love to be able to just give, but I'm not that spiritually evolved just yet… and we're just a young working couple.
So in conclusion, if you're sadly looking for an unpaid hostel, we appreciate it if you refrain from requesting with us.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
After being "adopted" by the first family I ever couch-surfed with, I can say I haven't done it as much as I would have liked to, but I'm hoping to change that! I finally have my own place, so I would be more than happy to receive and share my place with others, showing them the kindness and respect I've always been shown by my hosts and expecting a likewise attitude towards us.
Interests
My happiness can be summarised in a good book, something yummy to eat and a nice spot in the sun. I enjoy reading and writing or colouring mandalas. I also like cooking, specially Italian food, following my roots and I've been led to believe I am quite good at it. I enjoy being outdoors, feeling the breeze, the sunlight, even the rain. I love nature with all its beautiful details.

Music, Movies, and Books
Amelie, Big Fish, Musicals in general, funny movies, sad movies, adventures, sci-fi, I love experiencing all of that! Same goes for books and music... I can enjoy cheery pop, heavy metal, R&B, just anything if it fits my mood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I remember a few amazing moments in my life.
Waiting for 2011's New Year in Copacabana beach in Rio with my best friend and some other million people. The most amazing display of fireworks I've ever seen, lighting up the faces of thousands and thousands of smiling strangers around us. Everyone wearing white and sharing those hours of expectation and hope in the year to come.
I also remember the first time I saw snow in my life. I was already 22 years old and left my home in the summer to arrive at a freezing Ireland after 26 hours of travelling. I'd seen it in the movies but it felt surreal and wondrous at the same time. It took me a while and a few snow angels to get a real feel to it!
Finally, leaving my job as a teacher, my class of eleven-year-olds decided to each one share with me a moment they remembered with me. It filled me with pride to see how they came up with things from two or three years ago, things I hardly remember saying, but for them it was crucial and they did remember... Telling a girl she was pretty in a particular moment, explaining to a boy how things sometimes didn't work out the way we wanted them to, or just supporting them before a school play... It made me realise how big of an impact i had on them and how thankful I feel of having been a part of their lives.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English or Spanish. I can teach some finger-licking Italian or South American recipes. I am always learning about meditation, past lives and tarot and anyone wanting to learn as well is welcome to learn alongside with me. I practice Reiki healing and would love some extra practice. I'm also a pro at turning sad faces into smiles.
