ABOUT ME
I was born in cairns and I've lived in this area for much of my life. I have also lived in London and Dublin for a few years and in 2011 I spent 3 months travelling in Spain. I have spent a number of years working in the tourism industry both here and overseas and the travel bug has definitely bitten me! the list of places i would like to go seems to get longer all the time, and I also find it hard to resist the lures of places I have already been!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was introduced to couchsurfing by some friends and housemates and I had already shared a few wonderful couchsurfing experiences before I made my own account. I hope to share a little of my knowledge of my region, my hospitality, and to get to know some interesting people from all around the world. When I can it will be great to provide a couch, or if that's not possible I will be happy to meet and have a chat, a drink or explore a little of the region when my sometimes antisocial work schedule allows.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far my previous Couchsurfing experiences have been very positive, and from my own personal experience I think that some of my fondest travelling memories have been the times I connected with new people, had friends or friends of friends visit me, stayed with friends in their homes or met up with old friends in new parts of the world so I look forward to more of these unique moments in the future.
Interests
I love music, going to gigs, films, reading, dancing, and exploring. Sharing food/drink and cooking with/for friends old and new is one of the most simple pleasures in life. I enjoy making things with my hands eg, crafts, baking, sewing, henna tattoos etc. i love musical instruments, and have learnt a few at various stages of my life, though am mostly quite rusty these days! I also enjoy art galleries, festivals, museums, parks, wild places, the ocean, camping etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music, I almost always have something playing and sometimes find it hard to think without it (I often get caught singing along loudly at work)! I enjoy discovering and sharing music, and love to hear suggestions from others about what I should listen to next. Some of the music I really enjoy includes: Radiohead, The Arcade Fire, Blue King Brown, Mumford and Sons, Laura Marling, Angus and Julia Stone, Elbicho, Sarah Blasko, Muse, Manel... in fact I could go on for ages here!
Some of my favourite films include: Amelie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Darjeeling Limited, Volver, Trainspotting, Il Postino, The Matrix, Children of Men, The Royal Tennenbaums, Moulin Rouge, Pulp Fiction, Sweeney Todd, Juno, Pirates of the Caribbean...
Some of my favourite books are: cookbooks, Wintersmith, the Little Prince, the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Griffin and Sabine books, American Gods...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
travelling has definitely been top of my list of amazing things but it's not just 1 particular place, moment etc, but rather it's all the little moments rolled together, the people you meet, the things you learn, the art, the architecture, the similarities, the differences etc. I do consider myself to be incredibly fortunate to have already been to many places I have dreamt about going, even though the list hasn't gotten any smaller!
Skydiving also rates pretty highly as a single amazing thing, i still cannot quite believe that I've done it, didn't cure my fear of heights, but i could never have imagined how it would feel to fall through the air like that!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help teach various things, but sadly I am not an expert at anything! We can practice English conversation, and I would love to improve my beginner Spanish, though I'm a bit shy, but if we meet for a drink you might hear me (a friend once told me that you can find your language in the bottom of a glass)! I can give henna tattoos, I love to cook and am always keen to share food ideas and I can sew a little and dance a little flamenco. I have a few instruments in my house too if you want to play. I also love to learn something new if you have something to share.
