About Me
Hello!
My name is Lotte, I'm 27 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I travelled around the world for 9.5 months in 2015-2016 and am always looking forward to my next trip. While travelling I noticed that it's not the places but the people that make the experience so amazing. By spending a couple of days together with someone through couchsurfing or just in hostels I've made great new friends and memories.
On my travels I like a mix of nature and culture. I'm not too much of a party animal but I like to go out and have fun from time to time. I mostly just want to see what the city/area has to offer and of course have a good time with the people I meet along the way.
At the moment I'm not able to host because I live with my parents in a very uninteresting tiny village. I plan to start hosting again as soon as I get my own place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy meeting new people, hearing their stories and sharing mine. Talking to locals gives me a better perspective of what it's like to live there and how someone's culture is different from my own. I also think that locals can show and tell me more than a travel guide will ever be able to, so if you have the time I would love to see and hear what your favorite places are.
Interests
Travelling (wow): Seeing the world piece by piece is amazing! Always ready for more :)
Movies & tv series: I love movies, binge a lot and watch the Academy Awards every year even though they start at like 2AM in the Netherlands.
(Video) games: As a Twitch streamer I spend a loooot of time playing video games, mostly what we call 'retro' - my favourite console is the SNES. I also like board and card games. We can play some together if you'd like to!
Puzzles & riddles
Psychology: people, behaviour, history, culture & religion (I am not religious myself, just intrigued by it)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
At home: Kasabian, Cold War Kids, can't hide the fact that I'm a Beatles fan even though I also like the Stones, Muse, Bloc Party, Pearl Jam, Queen, Mumford & Sons and I sometimes enjoy listening to weird-ass smooth electro music such as vaporwave.
While going out: Something I can dance to

Movies:
As a movie fan, I have a very hard time deciding which movie I like best. A few movies I really enjoyed and would recommend (all for completely different reasons, no particular order): the Deer Hunter, Grave of the Fireflies, Das Boot, Across the Universe, Big Hero 6

Books:
When I was a kid I used to read a lot but nowadays not so much anymore (I don't really know why, because I still like it when I do). Sometimes I suddenly read like 5 books in 3 days and then nothing for months. Used to be a die hard Tolkien fan, his stories still have a place in my heart. Books I really enjoyed: the Angel Maker by Stefan Brijs, Sans Famille by Hector Malot and the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done so many amazing things so let's go with something a bit odd... I have on multiple occasions traveled for a few weeks with friends I met online but hadn't seen 'in real life' before the trip! It always ends up being a great experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
Errr, I could teach you some basic Dutch, basic origami or to whistle on grass/a piece of paper/your hands (not fingers)/a bottle/an acorn cap (because those are super useful skills in life). I could also help you with finding cheap plane tickets.
I need to learn how to whistle on my fingers because I feel really bad about not being able to do that.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As I mentioned before, I would enjoy talking and perhaps spending some time together in the city, but if you don't have the time to do so it won't be a problem for me to just be in the city on my own :) As a guest I respect your home and rules and I'm happy to help out if needed.
