About Me

Hi y'all!
I'm Lou, 23. Welcome on my profile :)

I'm an easy going person who loves to explore and meet different people. Hoping to meet you in one of my adventures soon!

I am a Belgian girl who currently studies in Germany and just came back from an academic year outside Europe (six months in India and six months in Argentina, to study anticapitalism, decolonisation and climate change from a non-European perspective). I lived a lot of adventures on the way that I’ll be pleased to share with y’all around a drink or a good meal. :)

Obviously, I like to talk about how the world is going on (that’s kinda my master’s subject), but I really enjoy as well talking about art, music, cinema, or just enjoying a meal and getting to know someone. I love just feeling alive, so simple moments and good laughs are perfect enough. :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I do have a budget tinier than my dreams, but that's not the main reason why I love it here. I love so much making friends that lived experiences different than mine and can inspire me on my journey. New landscapes and food are great, don’t get me wrong, but gosh, how cool are human beings! For me, travelling is above all a human adventure and I think CS makes it even easier.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, I have thousands of songs in my library, so I couldn't choose one. I listen to all types, from classical to pop music, with some RBnB, rock, jazz and reggae on the way.

Movies: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, the Shining, Back to the Future, Requiem for a dream, Chihiro's Journey, the Silence of the Lambs, the Help, Dancer in the Dark... Again, would be a shame to choose!

Books: Carlos Ruiz Zafon's ones, The Alchemist (Paulo Coehlo), The Little Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry), Millenium...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleep in the desert with some camels near the Pakistanese border
Laugh so hard with a stranger at the back of a bus that I almost choked on a cashew
Cut my finger in Iceland (because of some guacamole)
Watch the show of Le cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas
Write a book
Drive a bicycle in Delhi
Ride a horse at sunset on the beach in Thailand
Meet a friend soulmate from another continent and go on whim in Iceland to see the volcanoes and the whales
Paint my hair in white at the topfloor of a clandestine building in Argentina
Go swimming in lakes in Berlin all summer

What are yours?? :D

Teach, Learn, Share

I can already share good vibes before anything else. Now, I can also teach you some English or French if you want (I speak Spanish but wouldn't have the pretention to teach :)) I'm always interested in improving my Spanish, German and Italian too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't live there anymore, but if you come to visit Brussels, I can provide tips and good spots (to eat and to visit) if you wanna stay away from the touristic crowds and enjoy the city from a local viewpoint. I also kinda know pretty well the European Union (I studied political science and interned twice at the European Parliament) and would be happy to tell you about that. I know the city by heart and really fell in love with it.

For sure, if you want, I can also share about living in India and in Latin America, traveling around Thailand, the underground culture in Berlin, or other travel stories! But only if you accept to tell me about your culture and past experiences too!! :))
