About Me

I embarked on my travels in the beginning of December 2017 and flew to Cartagena in Colombia. I have made my way through areas of the north coast of Colombia, and down to the centre, and already I have had many enriching experiences.

I have had a strong desire to visit South America for a long time now. In my opinion, travelling is about developing a deeper understanding about the country in which you explore, and about learning the culture.

This trip has been my first opportunity to really get to experience a life as a traveller. I come from Kent in England, where I trained to become a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist. For many years, it has been a passion of mine to help others with their mental health. I worked as a cognitive behavioural therapist for 2 years.

Last year I made a promise to myself to finally allocate some time in my life to go travelling. It's something that I've always wanted to do, and I am so glad I have done it. I left a mental service which I worked for, for 5 years. I sold most my belongings, packed my bag, and hear I am now.

I started my travels in Colombia, and since then I have rediscovered my enthusiasm for being out with nature. I have met some great people along the way, and have built some wonderful friendships.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I have mentioned, I am currently embarking on a journey around various countries in South America. I really want to get to experience the culture in such countries, and get to know some of the local people. I imagine that couch surfing would enable me to spend time with people, and I'd feel grateful to be given the opportunity to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

I find it hard to say what my favourite type of music is, as I love most types (as cliché as that sounds). I love electronic music, funk and soul, reggae, ska, and reggaeton. Music is an important aspect of my life, and I think it evokes many emotions within me. I also love to dance to music!

I prefer comedy movies and some of my favourites include Will Ferrell movies such as Anchorman and Step Brothers; Monty Python's the Holy Grail; Ace Ventura Pet Detective; Bridesmaids; and Pitch Perfect.

Other movies I love are classics such as Pulp Fiction, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars movies, The Matrix trilogy. I could go on and on...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am interested in building on my knowledge of Spanish, and I'd love to be able to practice speaking the language as much as possible.

If you are interested and/or have time, I'd love to spend time with you and get to know you. I would be happy to find out about your interests, and possibly try new things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking so I would be happy to cook a meal for you, or with you. I hope to be able to get to know others, and share my story of my life and my experiences.

Although I do not currently have a place to live anymore, if we get along well, I'd happily invite you to stay in my home whenever I return to the UK!
