About Me
Hey dear friends!
My name is Lou, I'm 21 and study foreign language correspondence in Berlin :) I moved here in August 2014, so I wouldn't consider myself extremely knowledgeable about our beautiful capital, but! I've been enjoying every day in Berlin so far. I grew up in Hamburg and moved to Tokyo for a year when I finished high school. I worked there and unfortunately had to leave when my visa expired :P So back to Hamburg it was, where I studied biology at uni.. which I thought was a good idea at the time ;) Because of my interest in culture and languages I decided to study something more language-related and ended up in Berlin =)
My hobbies include playing harp, meeting friends, going for long walks about town (if I don't get lost somewhere, that is..), traveling!!, reading, baking.. and I guess there are some more things that I like doing but wouldn't necessarily declare as hobbies =)
I also work part-time at a cinema and can get free tickets ;D The screenings are all in English, so it's no problem if you don't speak German =) Haha
I'd describe myself as pretty relaxed and open-minded.. I only get moody when I haven't had brekkie or something.. :P
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think it's a great way to get into contact with people from all around the world.. I've stayed with some people in Tokyo before who were all so kind and welcoming! It was touching :) Also, recently me and a friend planned a trip to Manchester and met a really cool guy through couchsurfing, who let us live with him and his friends and even showed us around AND gave us his bikes so that we could cycle about town! Easily the best trip ever! :D
I think Couchsurfing is a really great concept and I'd love to help people as much as these above-mentioned folks have helped me :) least I can do.
Interests
I love music.. Anything music-related really I find intriguing :) Apart from that I'm into cultural subjects, languages, ...
- culture
- baking
- movies
- reading

- cycling

Music, Movies, and Books
I love horror movies! Stephen King's movie Dolores is one of my all time favourites :) Also, last year I read two books which I'm desperately waiting for the next sequel to come out! They're called "Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children" and "Hollow City" by Ransom Riggs.. If you're into creepy, Harry Potter-ish books - have a read and share your thoughts with me! *o*
I listen to music that hardly anyone knows (At least in my perception!)
In case anyone cares, I'll just write a little list.. :P
-> Vanessa Carlton, Lilyjets, Liis Lemsalu, The Do, Iiris, Stevie Nicks, Marina and the Diamonds, Kalafina, Aoi Yamazaki, Kerli, Misterwives, Katzenjammer, Indica, The Bird and the Bee...
And sooo many more!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've had the most amazing year abroad in Tokyo. Moving away from Germany, fighting my way through japanese documents and street signs on a daily, breaking the language barrier, making friends and basically.. growing up - all these things were so so important. That year has changed me completely and made me realise how blessed I am. I'm going to hold this memory dear to my heart as long as I live.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be glad to help you with German or even Japanese, if I can :)
