About Me
hi, my name is Louis and i am a French who decided to settle down in Vietnam.
I've decided to start a project that has been driving my mind for over the past 2 years now...
I heard from someone once that "the world is made of stories, not atoms". It had an impact on me and since then I've been trying to build an environment where stories are easy to share and easy to create.
And I came up with the craziest idea I could think of;
What if I could help to make the english language accessible to as many people as possible in order for anyone to be able to educate themselves, and learn how to communicate together. So that better worldwide decision could be made despite the gap between culture and customs.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I can only imagine that most of you guys are looking for uniques experiences that will widen your perception of the world that surrounds you. And what a better way for you to do that, than dive in in a deeper understanding of the countries and places you choose to travel to?
And I know for a fact that Vietnamese are eager to learn english and learn from other cultures, as their education system is flawed and are looking for alternative methods to get access to knowledge.
And that's why I am seeking for your help;
I want to give a chance to travellers to deeply immerse themselves in the culture of this country by allowing them to surround themselves with many vietnameses eager to speak english, learn from their cultures, share new stories, and spread genuine positivity.
I never thought it was possible to experience this kind of human interraction before coming here, in vietnam. I believe that many people could learn from vietnamese's mindsets, and to do so, they have to be able to describe the way they navigate through life, using a language spoken all around the globe. Because I would never be able to explain their lives as well as they could. that's why i need help from volunteers to help them improve by fixing common speaking mistakes and formulate better sentences overall.
I teamed up with two vietnamese partners (Toan & Sarah) and we'd love to welcome you to be a part of this environment. You would be our guests as "english teachers".
But do not worry, not having any experience is not an issue at all. As long as you are friendly, or you like to share your adventures and your culture, the students will make wonderful teachers out of you.
We expect from couchsurfers to help us out 3 to 4 hours a day, from Monday to Saturday.
The daily schedule is split in 3 differents parts;
Morning from 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM
Evening from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
And we try to organize the schedule depending on your daily schedule... So that you'd have time to go around the city and experience vietnam and Sai Gon (Ho Chi Minh) the way you should.
I also started as a volunteering english teacher in a homestay and i can't even begin to describe how useful the skills i've developed are on a daily basis.
Though, i can say for sure that it will increase;
your patience,
your ability to understand other people's point of view,
your ability to express your thoughts depending on who is in front of you,
your actor skills (haha, and i am not even joking... body language becomes a key to explain anything)
The other skills it will bring you depends mostly on what you are looking for and what you expect to improve on!
---->You would benefit free accomodation
