Overview
About Me
Capetonian. Living lovingly. Consuming mindfully. Enjoying gratefully.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I prefer to see a foreign country from a local's perspective, which is why I also like to show visitors Cape Town from a local perspective. Give & take.
Interests
Hiking
Hiking is pretty underrated. There are cool trails all over the Cape peninsula and then of course the Drakensburg; the Garden Route; the Wild Coast and even the West Coast have some awesome hikes. I've recently gotten quite into trail running as well.
The ocean
Chilled weekends sun bathing; swimming; paddling and surfing is a massive vibe.
Art
Cape Town is going through a cultural revolution, which suits me just fine. There are just so many interesting spots where people showcase the most fascinating creations. No excuse to be bored (ever).
Beer & coffee
They're dehydrating sons of bitches, but they're just sooo goood.
Cooking
I enjoy using fresh ingredients to make wholesome food. I'm a pescatarian eating mostly vegetarian but fish every now and again.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music
Our music project - Medicine - should be able to help.
It's a genre unspecific, bi-monthly playlist. Contributed and curated by a group of friends from South Africa and all over the world.

Movies
I usually really enjoy movies on the art circuit. Music documentaries are great if I enjoy the band / musician's vibe. French films and short films can also be quite a win.
We actually have a film screening club - Gemsquash - where we do a screening at our house once a month. (Closed group on Facebook, but the doors are always open for cool people to join.)
Books
Really enjoy poetry. Don't judge now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach
Cooking; Afrikaans; English; lots of finance stuff (useful albeit boring)
I would like to learn
Conversational German (my German used to be okay, but it's rusty now)
Basic French
Kite surfing
Share
I would enjoy sharing a beer and/or a meal with travelers. There are also quite a few cool local spots which I can share.
