I've just finished my studies at the University of Manchester in the north of England, where I was working towards a Master's degree in Economics and Econometrics. This was fun, and I enjoyed my time in Manchester a lot. Now, however, I'm going to take some time out and consider what it is I want to focus on for the next few years (and beyond!). I love cycling, and Hispanic culture, and getting outdoors wherever possible. This can be difficult in Manchester, especially in the winter (you may see for yourself!), but still. I come from Cornwall, from a town on the coast, so I naturally spent most of my life in and around the sea. I realise how important it is to me, and my aim is to get back there some day soon.

Acabo de terminar un máster de economía en la ciudad de Mánchester, Reino Unido. En ésta ciudad he vivido casi 5 años (joder!) pero provengo del muy sur, de la costa. Allí hacemos el surf, el litoral está salpicado con playas y con acantilados, es un lugar realmente hermoso.
Con 18 años me fui para ir a estudiar en Mánchester, la segunda ciudad de Inglaterra, y donde siempre ha prevalecido el espíritu liberal. Allí conocí a mucha gente muy muy buena y me hice adulto.
Ahora me toca decidir lo que es que quiero de la vida. Por eso pienso viajar un rato y tomar un tiempo para pensar bien las cosas. A ver!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It was great hosting Couchsurfers while I was in Manchester. I hosted people from all over Europe, and it's a nice way of travelling while at home, so to speak.

To stay with somebody while travelling also clearly enriches the experience! I've had great experiences both hosting and being hosted. I have such gratitude to those who have hosted me in the past and who have been, without exception, very kind and friendly.

Fue genial acoger a tanta gente en Mánchester. Había invitados de todos lados del mundo, y es una buena manera de viajar desde la casa, por así decir. Por el otro lado, quedarme con alguien mientras viajo enriquece mucho la experiencia. He tenido buenas experiencias acogiendo a la gente y siendo acogido yo mismo. Tengo mucha gratitud por todos que me han acogido, y que fueron, sin excepción, gente muy maja y amistosa.

I like a lot of things, including astronomy, birds, geography, languages, cooking... I'm by no means an expert at anything, really, but I've learned a bit about a lot in my time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like it all, if it's good! I mean, I'm a huge music fan, and I spend a lot of time reading. The most important musical discovery of the past year was the texan country and western singer Townes Van Zandt, and the last book I read was 'Casa de los espíritus' by Isabel Allende. This was really great!

Me gusta todo, siempre que sea bueno! O sea, soy muy fan de música, y paso mucho tiempo leyendo. El hallazgo musical más importante del último año para mí fue el cantor tejano, Townes Van Zandt. La última novela que leí fue ´Casa de los espíritus´ por Isabel Allende, y fue increíble, o sea, bacán, así dicen los chilenos.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow! Um. Well, I suppose I live a modest life, but I would count as amazing the love and friendship I've experienced over the years.

Update - I recently cycled from John o Groats to Land's End - the length of Britain - solo! It was the best.

Also, I once did a backflip off a big cliff!
