I am a 28 year old "Jersey Girl" - born in a tiny British island called Jersey which is just 14 miles off the coast of France. I grew up in my island until I moved to England for three years to complete my university degree in Biomedicine. I then moved back to Jersey and worked in the Finance industry for over 5 years before moving to Pennsylvania, USA for over 5 months to be with my boyfriend :) We are currently (June 2015-March 2016) travelling some of Europe, Asia and Australasia together for just over 9 months!!

Whilst travelling the world with my partner, I have always believed that to get a true experience of a place, staying with a local is the ultimate way to achieve this goal. Yes, hotels and guest houses can be ideal much of the time, but every now and again, we thoroughly enjoy staying with a local family so we can learn more about their culture and daily ways of life, what activities are recommended in the area and especially different styles of cooking (we both absolutely love to cook and to get involved in preparing meals!). We found couchsurfing through recommendations from other travellers who have had great experiences with some wonderful families so we thought we would try it ourselves!
