About Me

I'm Louise, I'm 19 years old and from the west of Ireland. I'm studying Biomedical sciences at UCD in Dublin.

I lived in France last year for 6 months and was able to have some wonderful experiences travelling in Europe and meeting people from every corner of the world. I used couchsurfing for the first time last year and loved the experiences I had so I'm back at it again this year!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a chance to meet people from all over the world. This is more then enough of a reason for me.

Also I find different cultures fascinating and this is a pretty great way to discover the quirks of a place and its people.

Of course the fact that it is free is a plus compared to staying in a hostel or a hotel but I like to think that being able to share this experience and maybe some of my country's culture is a type of payment in itself.

Interests

- Science - My course focuses on medical research and I find it extremely fascinating and interesting.

- Languages and Cultures - Recently I've grown more appreciative of history and this goes hand in hand with appreciation and intrigue for other cultures and people. Behind every person is a thousand tales worth hearing.

- Photography - I've always loved taking pictures, paying attention to the angle and form. I recently got two film cameras as gifts, an Olympus Trip 35 and a Yashica Minister III.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music - what I listen to changes too often, I go from binging a band to binging a genre to listening to anything and everything at once so this is hard. But to name a few... Arctic Monkeys, Mt. Joy, The Beatles, ELO, Elvis Presley, Gorillaz, Birdtalker. Also Irish traditional music holds a dear place in my heart so I have to mention bands like Beoga, Cúig and Tallinn. You can find me on Spotify @louisec137, it'd be easier then listing everything!

- Books - fantasy, Greek mythology, novels. I want to read 'The Iliad' and 'The Odyssey' this year. At the moment I'm hazarding an attempt at reading some books in French. I've always read a lot of fiction so I'm trying to read more non-fiction because recently I've developed a hunger to understand and learn more about history and culture. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed the tallest mountain in Wales with my family during the night, we wanted to see the sunrise. Unfortunately we climbed into a raincloud instead and all we saw when the sun came up was a white blanket below us. The bath I had afterwards was the best bath of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

- Teach, Share - I can introduce you to Irish culture and language. I am not much of a teacher, nor am I much of a story teller but I am open and would love to share with you what I can. Irish song and dance, tales and myths not to mention Irish history... I'll try do it all justice. And maybe even a traditional Irish dish or drink if you're lucky ;)

- Learn - I eagerly await to learn about you and your way of life. I don't think we'd run out of things to talk about. Also of course anyone who can help me with my French or my ambition to learn German and Spanish will not be unwelcome! Or if you can teach me a few dance moves .... I can't dance but I wish I could
