About Me

I'm a young student of Urban Planning currently on a break before I start my Masters. I grew up in Belgrade, but moved away as a child and am now trying to get to know Serbia as an adult. I'm interested in alternative places and political iniatives, as well as urban struggles and developments. When I venture further from the city, I love hiking, camping and general typical outdoor stuff - catch me rocking the standard German tourist outdoor gear ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Trying to figure out how to travel more ethically and respectfully. Everyone wants to travel, but everyone also hates tourists, and I don't want to contribute to rising rents, bad hotel working conditions etc. in the places I visit. But I genuinely think less commercialized options can create some beautiful intercultural connections!

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading a lot from Balkan diaspora authors like Sasa Stanisic or Tijan Sila. Among my all-time favorite books are the Hitchhiker's Guide, The Plague, Slaughterhouse 5 and the Mandarins.

Last movie I saw in the cinema was Za Danas Toliko / Enough for the Day and I loved it! Love movies with dry humor, not much background music or effects, strange storytelling and queer romance, but also some old classics. Guilty pleasure movies are Groundhog Day, 4 Weddings and a Funeral and Bud Spencer/Terrence Hill :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had a wonderful birthday this year where I just cooked a huge pot of gulash and invited everyone to drop by and come and go as they please. I love communal living, and working on my hosting skills, so having a full house and being able to provide for guests really makes me so happy!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Genuinely trying my best to be a good guest! Hospitality is really important to me, and building a respectful relationship with your host that you both can learn and profit from is something I really value.
I can offer:
- Cooking some pretty good vegetarian versions of common meat dishes, like Gulash or Sarma :)
- Some cute origami crafts! Also love making jewellery and postcards from scrap
- Some perspective and talk on urban planning and architecture
- Treating you, your time and your home with respect goes without saying. I'm not looking for a free tourist guide and do my own research before coming somewhere, but I'd still love to get to know you & your city better :)

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Serbia
