About Me

Hey there! I am a free spirit who realised a long while ago I valued living, happiness and freedom over taking a regular 9-5 job. I usually have little money, lots of free time (watching too much Netflix) and a mind that is constantly daydreaming of adventures, walking my dog in the woods, or of moving into a shipping container home (the dream!)

Twice I have sold (most of) my stuff, quit my jobs and set out to explore for as long as the money lasted, both times giving me the best and worst times of my life - travel isn't always amazing, but it has been the best education I have ever received and has helped me become the person I am today.

These days - After travelling so often I am grateful for the lifestyle I have in the UK, and all the little things that make being at home so special. I look for the small moments each day, those are often a lot more special than the big moments. Life is too amazing and beautiful to not notice and appreciate it.

For years I would take small jobs, save money, and travel. this has been my life since leaving university in 2013. People always tell me, or ask why I don't have a real job'. my reply is I would rather be broke and happy, than rich with no time to enjoy my life or the things in it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being quite shy I always took a hotel room or private room in hostels, and I didn't talk to people. My travels were good, but I knew I was missing something. I needed to push myself, and start getting outside of my comfort zone. Since starting to use CS I know what I was missing!

I want to share my journey with more people, live locally and really get to know a place and the people in it -tons of things the guidebooks don't know about!
I hope to make a few long-term friends along the way too :)

Travel is, after all, only half the fun. The other half is meeting all the cool people along the way to share your journey and create some stories to laugh, cry and reminisce over.

Interests

I nearly took a job to train as a massage therapist in Sri Lanka, it didn't happen but I do still give hand and foot massages.

A few years back I learned soap making(it smells amazing and is easier than you think).

At home in the UK, I have dogs, so I love to take long walks in the forests and fields. If you host me, and you can't find me, I'm either people-watching in a cafe, cuddling your pet, or have been out walking for hours!

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favourite book is "Shantaram" By Gregory David Roberts. It's too amazing to try and describe, but it has all of the emotions and you just need to go and read it now!

My favourite movie is called "The Way". It is about a father who loses his son on a pilgrimage in Spain, so the father walks "The Way" for his son, spreading his ashes as he walks, and the funny characters he meets along the way.

My favourite music - too much to mention - some of the top ones are Avicii Wake Me Up/ Hey Brother... Labbi Siffre Watch Me... City & Colour Take Care... James Arthur Sun Comes Up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered at animal shelters in Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Living in Sri Lanka for nearly 5 months and making repeat visits from 2010 - 2016 has taught me more life lessons than my entire school education could do.

Couchsurfing in Penang, Malaysia & ended up moving there for 5 months. (And planning to return next year for a long stay).

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an energy healer, so I can teach you about the healing process, the history of this practice and its benefits for the mind and body. I can give you a session too if you want to experience how it works (similar to Reiki).

I have cleaned professionally for past jobs, so I'm always able to help out around the house with general cleaning, & cooking.

If you have pets or animals that need some love and care you can find me with them 24/7 :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have many travel stories and love to share them, as well as hear about my host's life and stories.
I have travelled a lot in Sri Lanka and have many stories, tips, and recommendations to share with anyone interested in visiting!
I can offer energy healing sessions or a hand massage.
Help you cook and keep the place clean etc...
pet sitting and lots of love for our furry friends.
