About Me

I love to travel and have a deep desire for adventure and to explore new places. Having recently bought a house in Oxford, with my new husband we find ourselves with no spare cash to fund our explorations.

That being said the past 3 years have been somewhat of an adventure in themselves, major DIY projects have become our weekends and vacations. But the house is coming along nicely.

We spent our honeymoon inter-railing round Eastern Europe, sleeping on night trains and in hostels, or bunking at friends along the route. We went with no real plan and made it up as we went, it was one of the best trips I've done and a good example of how we like to travel.

I love the outdoors and I love to push and challenge myself to do new things, as a couple when we have time off together youll find us hiking in the local hills, renting canoes or checking out the mountain bike trails in the west (im not too good at the biking but Nick loves it).

My husband (Nick) is a Woodworker (he has a day job too but this is his real passion) and I'm a Church administrator, we've both had major changes in job roles, coming from police and military backgrounds respectively. We are Christian and we're quite involved in our local church and love the community. We are pretty liberal in our views, I realise the label 'Christian' can be very negative for some, please don't be put off, our hearts and minds are open.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is new for us, we'd love to give it a go on our upcoming trip to the States, we were planning on staying in hostels or a camper van, and we still might for some of the trip but we thought this looked like a great way to meet new people and get a real flavour of a place. We believe strongly in community and that it's something we have lost sight of in the west. This for us is about connection and adventure, it's always the people you meet along the way that make a trip memorable.

We are up for hosting too, we have spare room at the moment while we're looking for a lodger, and theres always the couch which is nice and long so good for sleeping on.

Music, Movies, and Books

My tastes are eclectic, but I love most music live. I'm a big fan of action movies and bad disaster movies. I've never been much of a reader until recently, I'm trying lots of different genres, my favourite recently was about a shepherd in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slept out under the stars in the Sahara just outside of Timbuktu. (Still can't quite believe it!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Always looking to learn but not after anything specific, just about the people we meet along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a jack of all trades really but my husband is quite the craftsman, could teach basic woodcraft and bushcraft.
