About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is what you make of it, it's no dress rehearsal :)

ABOUT ME

Where to start? What to say? Well the basics first I'm from Ireland. I was working in a bank at home and felt I was getting stuck in a rut so decided to pack my bags and take off. I love to socialise, meeting new people and even just people watching are my favourite pass times. I'm a big reader too, I'm not particularly sporty but snowboarding and surfing are definitley on my "to do" list. I love going to live music events too the type of music doesn't bother me I'll go see anything from cheesy pop to opera via rock! I'm not into clubs at all but of course I'm Irish so big into the pub scene. I'm not sure if Mallow has a whole lot to offer people travelling but it might help somebody someday to stay and get the heads up on places to go and see while visiting Ireland. It's a great country I recommend it to everyone - summer's best though unless you have a love of rain! I love eating out with my friends too. This little piece about me is probably a bit boring and I don't think much of my personality is in here but I'll up date it at a later date. Feel free to email me, I find it easier to react rather than just typing into space. I'm cool though I swear! Funny, sarcastic, silly, immature, smart, intelligent, pretty, witty and I'm modest too!! :)

PHILOSOPHY

personal philosophy....hmmm....I've got Peter Pan Syndrome (not in a creepy Micheal Jackson way though). I'm very sensible on one hand because I love my security so I'm good with money and the practical things in life and quite organised when I need to be but definitely not ready to grow up! In my head I'm still 16 and underage drinking! I think I've got commitment issues too, I always like to be moving onto something new and I'm great at planning - constantly planning my next move, in fact I get a bit freaked if I haven't constantly got something to plan. Hey that might be a good thing here - if you come up with the idea I'll organise it! I'm the monkey not the monkey grinder (or maybe that should be the other way around, I'm not sure?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to help out where I can whether it be meeting someone for coffee or emailing people with any tips or suggestions I can give them. I've arrived back from my travels (for now) and have had many more wonderful experiences along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm now back in Ireland for the interim and finally have the chance to host, the guests I've had so far have been amazing and hopefully there's more to follow! I have met fantastic people surfing around the States and Canada.

Well looking at my friends list a lot of them seem to be pub, party and drink related...hmmmmm....so you could say that the social side of couchsurfing is where you find me :) I've only had the opportunity to host twice while living in Canada as my room mate in Vancouver wasn't open to the idea but having a ball meeting people along the way!

Music, Movies, and Books

Ok I'll start with my favourite recent: 300 - When I grow up I want to be a Spartan, loved it! Transfomers.
Chick Flick - has to be Dirty Dancing, I'm a bit obsessed, went to see the show on the West End and everything, I have "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner" pj's - sad but true!
Best hangover movie - Gone With the Wind, you can have a snooze for half an hour and when you wake up it's still on so you don't feel like your wasting your day (that's some home grown Irish philosophy for you)
Favourite of All Time - Bullitt - Steve McQueen, they just don't make men like him anymore!
Laugh Out Loud - has to be Zoolander, it's a walk off!
TV: Law & Order, SVU is my favourite, I'm not that gone on Criminal Intent though, the guy bugs me he's got stroky beard syndrome along with Horatio and Grisom - they're such know-it-alls they annoy me. After that I'm not sure really, I watch tv but I'm not big on following anything (commitment issues;)
Books - I'll read literally anything, the first thing I pick a book by is the cover (yes I do judge books by their covers, there's probably some deep psycological thing for that but I just like interesting book sleeves) Plus I can never remember the names of authors or books (even the ones I'm reading at the time I have to check the front if anyone asks me what I'm reading) so if the cover catches my eye and the story sounds good I'll read it.
Music - Very like the books here, bad at song/band/singers names, bad at lyrics and tone deaf so I know what I like when I hear it but I can't really tell you what I like. My brother filled my iPod for me he has more of an idea of what music I like than I do - honestly!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life is Connemmarra in Ireland on a sunny day, it doesn't happen very often but when the sun shines there it honestly still brings a lump to my throat despite having seen it every summer since I was born! The Mayan village I visited in a jungle in Mexico was another amazing place even though I only spent a day there, as were some of the temples. The Gaudy designed village in Barcelona and watching the beginings of a tornado. The most amazing thing I've done is a zip rope across a lagoon and absailing into a well these are especially amazing for me as I'm terrified of heights!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a bit stumped on this one, what can I share? I'm always up for an adventure so I'll head off into the unknown without hesitation, I'm a good tour guide too, I'm an expert on speed tourism but I've a useless sense of direction so I have to forge my own path before I'll really know where something is. I quite enjoy getting lost though, you never know what's around the corner and it just might be a little gem. I can teach you to ride the buses like you never have before - believe me when you get back you won't know where you've been or how you got there but it will have been fun!
