Overview
About Me
I'm a 29 years old artist and filmmaker and I've been living in Paris for 7 years now.
My films deal a lot with ecology, ethology and anthropology, I also make sculptures, embroideries, and other stuff...
You can see my work here: http://louisedeltrieux.com
I'm quite a shy and introverted person (INTJ if you're familiar with the MBTI) but once I'm feeling comfortable it's easy to talk about a lot of things for hours. I enjoy meeting people and getting to know different philosophies of life.
Oh and also, I'm a vegetarian on my way to be vegan. But I'm not that radical about it and I enjoy discussing the topic to enrich my point of view about eating non-human animals. And I have to confess: once a year, I'm craving for lamb chops or rabbit in mustard sauce... (I know, they're the cuttest and yet from time to time, I just want to eat them... You see, I told you I'm not radical about veganism!)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling by myself, and I usually travel for my film projects.
This time I'm going to Alaska!

It's been my dream since I was a kid (don't ask me why, I have no idea!). I'm meeting a former anthropologist in Anchorage to develop a documentary project about the human/non human relationship in the Inuit culture. Then I'll be backpacking around the State.
On my way to Alaska I'm also going to visit some friends in Portland and Olympia, and I also want to spend a few days on Lasqueti Island in BC. I've been to this magical place the last time I was in BC last year for an art residency (on Malcolm Island) but I was so frustrated because I was only able to stay for one night because I had to catch my flight back in Vancouver. This time I want to spend a few days there.
I literally fell in love with Cascadia last year, met up with great people, experienced amazing nature, and I'm looking forward to come back!
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, my flat in Paris is too small to host anyone else but my boyfriend… But I would gladly have you over for coffee or tea and share my experience of this tough but nevertheless wonderful city.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted 3 people while I was living in Montpellier: Guillaume from Quebec, Kali, from US, and Thimothée from Rennes. It's been a while now but I remember it as great experiences.
While I was in China in 2006 I stayed with a sweet franco-belgian couple in Beijing.
During my trip in 2015, I stayed in Olympia (WA) with the amazing Grace, in Portland (OR) with the wonderful Guido and the very sweet Hannah. And on Lasqueti (BC), I stayed with the deep and generous Jennifer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed a sacred moutain in China once.
And well, I'm going to Alaska, which is like the end of the world for a French girl, so that would be something amazing I guess!
Teach, Learn, Share
Everything about contemporary art, filmmaking, cinema, vegan cooking, and a lot about ethology and ecology.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook "ratatouille", this wonderful Southern French veggie dish (that's where I'm from)!
And of course, endless conversations about how we can make the world a better, fairer, safer, happier (etc) place… Warning: I can get quite carried away about it!
