About Me

ABOUT ME

As much as I hate getting to know people by the "what do you do question", I do see myself as a student. I am eager to learn as much as I can from life (both practical experiences and theory), and I beleive traveling is truly the way to get to know yourself.
The down to earth part of me somehow manages to help the idealistic conceptions I create to become true, which is a good thing (I think). To me, everything is still possible, that might be why I consider myself a very open minded person.
I do have convictions I ground myself to, values I beleive in of course, but only the ones that can be questionned and changed.

PHILOSOPHY

Coming soon (or not)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I have been participating by surfing, getting to know awesome people and also building a strong trust into the concept of couchsurfing. My friend and I hosted Marion from Melbourne last winter. There isn't much space to host someone at my place for the moment, but I am really looking foward to, so I can give as much as I received.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sincerely, I don't recall any bad experiences with couchsurfing. I met people who made me realize there isn't just ONE way to live your life! I became friends with some of them: I even went to Indonesia with Marion, who hosted my friend and I in Melbourne! Overall, I can say that couchsurfing made me trust the generosity and the natural kindness of people.

Interests

Like most couchsurfers, I am very into traveling, even though I can't do it as often as I'd want to, being a student.
I can say litterature has always been very present in my life, but lately I am really getting into cinema, films that are from great directors as much as independant productions.
I am a "liberal arts" student, in a program called History, culture and society at the University du Québec à Montréal, so pretty much anything in Humanities is interesting to me, from sociology, philosophy, history or politics.
I also love hiking, biking (hello BC and Yukon!!), jogging and playing hockey.
Good food, good wine and good company is always a success.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
Québec's great directors, like Michel Brault, Pierre Perrault or Claude Jutras, from the "Cinéma direct".

La "nouvelle vague" from the late 50's in France has always been a source of fascination (with movies from François Trufault, Jean-Luc Godard, etc.)
I admire Michael Haneke's work in general, Lars von Trier fascinates me, Almodovar, and so on
but really, I like any kind of movie!

Books
The small budget mixed with the obsession of owning a book has made me go for old classics, so for example: Orwell, Kafka, Dumas, Dostoïevski, Cervantes, but to name the last books I read: The information, from James Gleick (very cool book on the theory of information), Kundera
Music:
Live music is the best! Jazz, House, Deep house, Folk, anything that is moving to me is good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is plenty, but laughing for about 20 minutes with my best friend after I said in the most serious tone: "I am so tired to kill cockroaches" in Indonesia still is one of the funniest moment of my life, and also a great memory to me, when I learned that I have the possibility to laugh at myself, and how you can get use to everything.
Of course, seeing the moon rising on an australian beach is priceless...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some french, if you ever want to! I cook fairly well (and maybe some stuff you don't know how). But so far, I feel like I've been the one learning so much through couchsurfing! I hope we can share experiences we had while traveling or even thoughts about the everyday life (there is some good stories there too, lots happening in the everyday basis).
