About Me

About me: I like reading, writing, and art. I love watching movies and going out dancing. I have taught in several different places, including Mexico and a federal prison in the US. Most recently, I taught in Istanbul, Turkey and loved it. I like living in different countries and teaching ESL because it is a great way to explore and actually get to know people, instead of being an outsider the entire time while traveling. I love learning about people and language and I'm working on a PhD in linguistic anthropology at USC Columbia.

PHILOSOPHY

Let be be finale of seem (Keep it real).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in life by being the best person I can be. I have surfed couches before, and would like to host someday.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed with some friendly people in Trabzon, Turkey. I have attended several CS meetings in Istabul to meet new people.

Also, on a US road trip I stayed with some awesome people in Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Rochester.

Interests

I like exotic places, water, and beaches. I love to be in motion, especially in a boat or on skis. I enjoy meeting new people and studying different cultures. I make money by teaching. By teaching, I get to be a life long learner. Mostly I like being with people and talking. Once I get to know someone, I am an open book, though I can be a little shy at first.

Music, Movies, and Books

Radiohead, Coldplay, Sublime, John Irving, could go on and on, but I am never good at listing things like this.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, in Florida, I pet a manatee (also known as a sea elephant). It was in the wild. I barely got to touch the tip of its tail, but it was warm and slimy. It was in the winter and I walked into a swap by first wading in knee high mud (thought it might be quicksand), but it was totally worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Will teach English, Want to learn Turkish, Can practice Spanish with you if you like because I'm pretty conversationally fluent.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, Greece
