About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find the question to the big answers

ABOUT ME

I was born in Prince George, British Columbia, on July 30th, 1982. "PG," as we call it, is a medium sized (70,000 people) town in Northern BC, surrounded by pine forest for hundreds of kilometers in every direction. It's usually between -20 and -30 degrees Celsius in the winter, and +30 degrees in the summer (not completely a frozen wasteland!). It DOES get a lot of snow... let me put it this way: when I finish shoveling the driveway, I sometimes have to turn around and shovel it again. I went to school in my hometown, and then I went to Victoria, BC, to study biology. During the summers I planted trees all over BC, and I got pretty good at it. I graduated in 2005 and left the country. After seeing SE Asia for a while, I went to Australia for my cousin's wedding and ended up staying for 2 years. I also saw New Zealand between years in Australia. I went back to Canada in order to get my work visa for South Korea, and during that time I planted trees again. I then taught English in South Korea for a year, and then I traveled from Japan to Europe, taking in a heck of a lot along the way.

I live now in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I'm going back to school.

PHILOSOPHY

I was your average Canadian, but a lot has changed in the last few years and now I'm a bit different. I've been to a lot of places, seen a few things, and worked many, many different jobs along the way. I'm open to anything and everything, and I believe everyone can be happy. Anything can be accomplished with a little hard work, and the world is really your oyster.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I move around and meet people everywhere I go, either locals or other foreigners like me. I don't rely on couchsurfing for accommodation, I just use it to see a side of each place that would normally be hidden to me if I were to stay in a hotel/hostel or camp.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used CS to meet people, for a surf or coffee, in Australia, New Zealand, Korea, the Philippines, Japan, India, Syria, Lebanon, Albania, and Bulgaria.

Interests

Other than travel (which is obvious), I like hiking, fishing, surfing, reading, riding a motorbike, taking trains, scuba diving, swimming, playing the drums, cooking, meditating, and playing with computers.
