About Me

*My Mission*

My journey is fueled by a profound love for meeting people and collecting the myriad of stories and cultures that shape our world. Whether it's hearing about life experiences or unraveling stories from travels, I am on a quest to spread kindness and understanding in the world we live in. The mantra of seeking discomfort, embracing the unknown, and traveling the world one day, as I yearn to discover the rich tapestry of our world.

*About The House*

Just for information for everyone too to avoid mixed up and confusion, I am also living in the same house with Michael which is technically the owner of the house and my flatmate too and we're both on Couchsurfing. I am also just a guest student living in his 4 Bedroom house and Michael is my host while studying here.

*About Me*

"Stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet," and I'm on a mission to turn strangers into friends, one story at a time. Hi there, I'm Loyd Doron, a 24-year-old dreamer originally from the serene, small countryside town of the Philippines, now chasing my dreams as a Storyteller and Filmmaker in Wellington, New Zealand.

Currently, I'm an international student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Screen Arts at Massey University. Family holds a special place in my heart, and my passions extend to exploring diverse cultures, attempting new recipes in the kitchen, and indulging in activities like walking, hiking, indoor rock climbing, and beach swimming.

*Why Did I Choose New Zealand?*

Wellington captivated me during my first visit in 2019, where I was honored with a filmmaking award for a Smartphone Film Competition. The city's creative spirit, coupled with its illustrious film industry (think Weta Workshop, Avatar, Lord of the Rings), inspired me to return for studies and further hone my storytelling craft.

*Filmmaking and Beyond*

Filmmaking is not just a passion; it's my lifeline. Through the lens, I aspire to share the untold stories, particularly those forgotten or overlooked. Back in the Philippines, I've already embarked on creating short films that address social issues, environmental concerns, and the critical topic of mental health, earning few recognition and awards in some international film festivals from different countries.

*Extreme Passion for Storytelling:*

Storytelling fuels my existence, a flame that keeps me going when life gets tough. The desire to inspire and motivate others through the lens of my camera is what propels me forward. Beyond filmmaking, I find joy in badminton, hiking (Tongariro Crossing being a recent triumph), and the camaraderie fostered through the 'Seek Discomfort' philosophy of the Yes Theory community.

*Connecting Through Yes Theory*

Being part of the Yes Theory community has been a life-changing experience. The mantra, "Stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet," perfectly encapsulates my approach to life. Through this incredible community, I've forged friendships that transcend borders, finding brothers and kindred spirits from various corners of the world.

In essence, my story is a patchwork of dreams, experiences, and a profound belief in the incredible power of storytelling.

*My Personal Passion Project*

Allow me to share with you the small video project close to my heart, born from chance encounters and blossoming friendships. What began as a collaboration with a fellow traveler, once a stranger, now counted among my dearest friends, has evolved into something truly special.

Welcome to "The Stranger Project" - a podcast or video series, an intimate exploration of humanity through the lens of the unknown. In this series, aptly named "Stories about People, for the People," we delve into the lives of diverse individuals, seeking their unique perspectives on life, dreams, passions, and everything in between.

Moreover, inspired by the spirit of connection, I've integrated the "Spark" card game, a creation by "Yes Theory," into our interactions. These thought-provoking cards harbor a collection of intriguing questions designed to foster deeper connections among participants, ultimately leading to profound insights and understanding.

I am wondering if you'd like to take part on my small project to share inspiration to others. Would you consider becoming a guest on my show, sharing your experiences and insights with us in front of the camera? Let's embark on this adventure together.
