Going to Africa to study more about World Music

ABOUT ME

I recently graduated from music college in London studying percussion. I am very interested in music from Brazil, Cuba and Africa and wish to travel to all these places to find out more about it!

I believe that life should not be driven by pursuit of money but should be driven by experiences. It is easy to get distracted from what is important in the modern day world, and I want to do my best to avoid finding myself stuck in a cycle of worthless routine.

Two years ago I traveled to Ghana in West Africa for 3 months to pursue my interest in world percussion, and learnt so much from the experience. At the end of last year I returned to West Africa, travelling to Senegal, Guinea, Mali and Ghana and learning all kinds of traditional African music. It already seems like too long ago...!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So many people recommended couch surfing to me that I thought I'd give it a go!

I have surfed a few times, and now wish to recriprocate and host interesting, especially French-speaking, people.

I live in Greenwich, and plan to offer my couch during the Olympic Games, ideal for anyone visiting the Equestrian events or the shooting, all very close to my house!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed for 3 nights in Amsterdam and for 3 nights in Lyon, and found my hosts on both occasions to be incredibly welcoming and hospitable!

Centres d'intérêt

Listening to music of all kinds including bands such as Arcade Fire, Elbow, The Mars Volta, QOTSA, Muse, Everything Everything and Radiohead; and also an eclectic mix of Latin, African, jazz and classical music.
I also enjoy watching all forms of sport especially cricket and playing sport, especially cricket.
