About Me

Hello! My name is Laura Palmieri and I'm a child of mother Earth & citizen of the World. Born in the USA with Italian roots, I've spent the last 10 years exploring the World and eventually finding a home in Queenstown, New Zealand for the last 8 years. Soon to be a New Zealand citizen, I have a deep love for the kiwi culture but also feel that my 'place' in the World is still yet to be found. Hopefully you can help me find that corner of the planet that I belong by showing me yours!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel to meet the people of the World, not just see it's sights. Meeting people is the most important reason that I travel, so I'd love to meet you and learn about your local area. I couchsurf because I am on a budget, but I never expect anything for free. I could easily stay in a hostel, but I would rather stay with the locals and put $$ back into the economy of the people. I'm happy to contribute to your bills, just let me know what you think is fair! I can't wait to meet you and your neighbourhood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To celebrate my 30th birthday in 2017, I travelled to Niue in the South Pacific to go swimming with Humpback Whales. I had the pleasure of swimming alongside the most magestic adolescent male and a pregnant female whales. It was one of the most breathtaking moments of my life and I am so blessed to have experienced it. I can highly recommend it and would be happy to give you advice about traveling to the remote island of Niue.
